Hey 500, I said "straight"...woops, don't go taking offense to that!

Hey no - - but LOL on your use of words...
dont suppose you can get a Straight Answer from a gay man unless he was that before - as I was ... I see both sides of the coin now ...

not a diss dude, but just had to point out....

if it weren't for heterosexuals, you wouldn't be here right now.

True, but there are also may same-sex couples that have children without engaging in heterosexual behavior.

Hey swmr, are you going to continue to tap dance around 500's questions or what? It's time to man-up. The longer this goes on, the more frivolous it appears. You're trying to stroke the system, aren't you?

Seems pretty clear to me that Swmr can't man up on his own. In fact, every single "I'm gay and because of that, this happened" thread he's started seems to have that undertone. Specifically, his apparent inability to handle any kind of conflict. Seems like he comes here and whines after the fact and repeated that pattern with the school district and the lawsuit.

Swmr dude. You can't live life like that. You have to take the bull by the horns at some point.
We all dream of a world of sunshine and rainbows and peace. The problem is some people think this would be a great place to live, while others think it would be a great place to pillage.

Hey 500, I said "straight"...woops, don't go taking offense to that!

You know last night had a scare and thought it might have been from my posts here- Farley and I were in bed sleeping and sometime around 11;30 we heard a voice that yelled " Dirty-- ( something) ' and as I have been on here for a few days and others know where we live - we both thought it was someone outside harassing us- ( would have been the first time since we lived here)
so I got out my Flare gun and spear gun and we both checked the front window but could see nothing --- so we went back to sleep - but fitfull ----

so when we got up - we checked outside to see if we had paint or eggs or something- but found nothing -

Turns out that Farley had his speakers on on his computer and he got a yahoo instant message with an "audible' that said "Dirty ( something)" in a foreign language ( spam IM of course)... but it sounded like it was out in front of our house...

Just goes to show how some benign occurance can raise the hackles ...

WE have laughed about it all day today ...

What I am laughing at is the picture of you two at the front window armed with a flare gun and a spear gun. Now that is funny!

A rock a bottle and a death threat - Right ?
When was this ? while you were in HS or after you left ?
The same question applies to all of the following :

During HS, sophomore year

I still fail to understand how they FAILED to protect you -- From WHAT ? If it was not harassment - what ?

I came forward, they made no statements to the student body about appropriate behavior. Before my incidents, there was the rape allegations that were brought forward, we recieved a letter about that. Earlier that same year (soph year), there was a student who had long hair for religious purposes. It was cut by someone during passing period. We recieved a letter about discrimination against religious minorities. I was told that my case was an isolated incident and the student body didn't need to hear about what happened to me.

Pro-bono ? or is she in it for the money ? Is she also gay ?

She's not in it for the money, she is not gay

Is this really true ? and what was the outcome of it ? You SHOULD know this since you may have precedence to support your claims...

From what my attorney has found out, the student settled out of court because it was before the law went into effect and he went into alternate ed.

Now wait a minute - First do you know if other gay students ( I mean personally know) were harassed in the same or worse manner than you were ?

I cannot say. I knew other gay students personally, one who was treated about the same but ended up moving to SF.

Second - I think I hear you tell us that you had set up a gay/ straight alliance - Right ? Did you meet other students that were gay in this group ? If so , since you knew about the UCP and were being harassed,. wouldn't you have told them also about the UCP and helped not only their cause but also help them to make same or similar complaints to the administration so both they and you would be better "protected" ? Yes I met other gay students and straight allies thru the GSA. Yes we talked about the UCP. If they filed any complaints, I wouldn't know cuz they never told me.
Or was it that all your UPC and meetings done AFTER you left the high school ?

The UCP is supposed to take effect with the very first complaint I make, regardless if I request it to be like that or not. The UCP stuff was during my tenure at FHS, the meetings came a year and a half later after the ACLU became involved and the district was concerned that I had gone to them.

So what I don't get is- when did you have the upper level meetings with district, when did you file based on the UCP - How you knew about the UCP , Why you did not have other gays helping you or you helping them with your gay/straight alliance...

I also consider the attempted suicide and the GPA drop to be related more to you coming out and realizing you were a gay man in a heterosexual world than anything related to 3 what look like very minor incidents you faced... Attempted suicide and falling GPA happened Soph year. I came out before frosh year.

Do not get me wrong - Even as an adult gay - we have our fears and we take certain precautions to mitigate our own situations to minimized any potential negative situation... And also do not get me wrong - that any time of gay bashing , harassment is cause for personal concern-- just as it was when I was straight skinny and wearing hand me downs .... ( hey - I still get hand me downs as Farley has upsized and I have as well - He gets to buy his new duds while I get his older ones- Geez)

so I am not saying things did NOT happen- and that things wont happen - just that your information leads me to have lots of questions on motivation, timing , and other inconsistencies..

Cheers
F500

If you have any other questions, I'll answer them. Sorry it took a while, trying to navigate thru this as quickly as possible.

I can handle my own, I do handle my own, and have learned to handle my own since my sophmore year. I'm sorry that at age 16 I had faith in the school system.
