Dances Are Getting Out Of Hand

I have a question - as a parent of a future high schooler. Can anyone be honest about what is really going on? I know I'm old and boring, but I did go to HS at one point, so I vaguely remember what it was like to be a teenager. Granted, I was a nerd and didn't do the drugs or have the sex like all my friends did. But, I did have multiple friends who got abortions (horrible experience, IMO) and STD's. I know times have changed, so I want to know what it's like now.
I don't really believe kids were actually having sex (intercourse) on the dancefloor, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fair amount of "feeling up" (or whatever you call it). Same with the blanket thing at the football game. I know when I was in HS, none of the other stuff was sex. Everyone just made out and went as far as possible before actually having sex. I also doubt the kids working the concession stand were wasted, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were buzzed.
Anyway, I've already typed too much, but I'm hoping there are some honest kids who can actually say what really is happening. The amount of rumors about Folsom kids (both middle school and HS) is staggering. I don't know how much of it are urban legends that we paranoid parents spread around. I also wonder how involved the parents are of the kids who do have sex, drink, etc.

I'm glad you people think that simulating sex in public is good, normal, and decent behavior.
Your parents must be proud.
Or not.

Well according to the kids who are posting here, FHS is perfect with no drug usage, sex or bad stuff of any kind going on - so as they have instructed, there is no need to worry about anything ever, you just have to trust them because kids are more trustworthy then adults
They didn't see anything bad going on and neither did Theresa so that means nothing bad ever happens there, you'll just have to buy that, I mean believe that... or they will tell you again and call you a dumbarse if you don't, remember, according to them, they are the more mature ones here
thanks goodness its all just rumors and that all the other kids who reported seeing it were just um, making it up to have something to talk about with their parents
oh and freak dancing is great, so nobody is allowed to ever diss it - in fact it should be made school policy to enforce freak dancing to make sure everyone is doing it right

shame on you for not being mature enough to accept their nasty dance routines

Dances: I've been to plenty of them; I'm a Senior at Folsom High School. In all the years that I've been going there I have never seen anything close to what you describe. Sex is not happening in the bathrooms or on the dance floor. If your child is coming home and telling you that, he or she is misinformed. Rumors spread like wildfires at our school and everybody seems to believe everything they hear.
Now on the issue of drugs, there are a handful of kids who are definitely under the influence but its hard to monitor and control that. They already check our bags and pockets on the way in the door and they also check random people with a breathalyzer.

where did all these angry kids come from? no one is, or ever has, accused THEM of having sex in the middle of the dance floor, tossing their used condom on the floor, taping a full flask of alcohol under their dress. why so defensive? YOU didn't do any of the above, good for you, someone did, not you.
don't worry about it, just like all the adults that aren't going to. when it happens again or pregnancies and std's are confirmed, i promise i won't utter one sinlge "i told you so". it happened.
agriff: lucky you to be able to refer to mr strong, as blade....i could tell you are friends!!
bw: as stated before, random breathalizers AT THE DOOR is not enough. you know as well as everyone here, that 'illegals' are being snuck in and used/consumed INSIDE the dance. random, lots of random, breathalizers need to be used all night long!

maybe if you would read the posts you would realize thats not what we said.
But if you're blind enough to believe whoever your sources were, good for you. Do you believe them when they say, "Oh, it's just me and stacie going over to her house tonight?"
mmhmm.

to the parent above. for you at school dances is what happens is the dj plays different music, from fast songs to slow songs and ya most of them are rap. but if anything like what is being accused is going on then i don't see it and I'm always going through the group between my date/group and other friends. there really is not anything to worry about with school dances. there are Folsom police there watching over it, teachers all over with flashlights to break people up if they are freaking, and parents doing the same thing, and also the bathrooms are checked a lot too. they are well underhand. and the parents and teachers at the concession, not kids but parents and teachers, were not buzzed in the least. not to norma jean, once again your making this sound 100x times worse that in really is, tossing used condoms on the floor?? any proof to that? it is dark in the room and i couldn't even see my feet let alone the floor and a clear condom laying there in the dark. and all the dresses are up to date with the schools dress code too, the length of the dress has to be at the bottom of the fingertips. and they do the random Breathalyzers if they suspect someone cause like i said, the Folsom police are present at the dance all night. so i don't know where you are getting your information, but check into it before hand. as for condoms tossed on the floor, false cause no one would be able to see them unless they were crawling on the floor. so no one is having sex on the dance floor, plus if condoms were tossed everywhere why the worry with STD's and pregnancies?
folsom is not perfect but is better than most schools.

Look kid, you may think you know everything about everything at your age, but I have news for you - you don't.
Those of us in our 40's etc have a lot more experience with life then you do so stop with the slams and put downs on the adults and stop trying to make yourself look like some holy person who somehow miraculously knows what everybody is doing at all times at FHS dances etc.
It's like me saying there's no crimes or shop lifting or drug usage or drinking and driving ever going on in Folsom because I have never seen that happen so there for it must not ever happen because I said so - see how that works?
BTW, you just contradicted yourself, you claim nothing bad goes on at FHS, then you call me blind if I believe my daughter says ""Oh, it's just me and stacie going over to her house tonight?" - that would insinuate bad things go on which ironically you've been trying to deny in this entire thread
make up your mind

that was a sarcastic reply to chip, try not to get so defensive
read the posts, almost all of you have stated you freak dance, or did you conveniently forget that already?
and I hate to break it to you but yes, most people in their 40's are 100x's more mature then teenagers
