Well then making bad popcorn movies for the public to enjoy several times each is the way to go at over 2 billion dollars and counting...

yeah, it was another thread but I do remember you mentioning it...

Now that you've actually seen the film maybe it makes at least a little more sense why it's doing so well. It's a tiny bit better then just a movie about "blue sparkly aliens".

No, I haven't seen it yet. My son went with his grandmother and liked it. I just have no desire to see it. Just not speaking to me. If my boy gets it on DVD I'm sure I'll watch it. Being as derivitive as it is, I'm fairly sure my opinion of the movie itself won't change even if I do see it---but I can't deny that so many have gone to see it and enjoyed it a lot. Which I'm 100% for.

Although I've always thought it's the popcorn type flicks that drive people to the theater. That's why I admire Bay for always delivering visually.

being a film maker, you should really go check it out on the big screen. if for nothing else, go to see the cinematography and technical elements of this film, don't worry about concentrating on the storyline, it'll flow.

Peer pressure!

I have a buddy who just paid $45 for his ticket in 3D. Some Hollywood joint--(not including the valet cost...ugh).

I just saw it a few days ago in 3D at Palladio. I was blown away at the quality of this film. Waiting for the DVD or even seeing it in 2D will really take away from the experience.

There were some elements of the white man invades the Indians (they rode horse-like creatures, used bows and arrows, loved the earth, etc) but you can look past that. There was even a recent comparison of this film and Pocahontas that was really similar in story line with just a few substitutions.

Still, the movie was really well done, everyone should see it. There also seems to be quite a few 3D movie coming soon and now that they have the technology down that could be a good thing!

If Titanic was a popcorn flick? I think its the "whole package" vs just an "uncommon storyline" that drives people to the theater. Mostly though, I think it's movies that appeals to young and old such as this one and Titanic. I've seen kids to 80 plus'rz at both films unlike most.

I love alot of Bay movies and he is the King of popcorn flicks indeed... but I get exhausted with his disgusting love for camera shake and Ad placement. Plus he always has to attempt to be BIGGER with each sequel which is always a mistake and why Transformers 2 sucked so bad. I think he should take lessons from Nolan and the Batman series who didn't feel like he had to explode more or shock the audience with body parts placed in a bucket... but develop even deeper characters. I actually hope that for Avatar 2 as well. I'd rather not see a bigger battle seen but take the story other places and use the time to develop the characters even more.
