EDIT : By the way...I think Snooks uses Dreyers ive cream...or Breyers, I don't remember, so if you want that you can get it in the supermarket.
But you can't beat their peanut brittle

Back to ice cream. Do people prefer scoop ice cream or soft serve?

They just broke ground at Fat's this week. Spring or Summer 05 is the opening. Back to ice cream. Do people prefer scoop ice cream or soft serve? |
I munch them by the boxes.

I think Thai Siam is slightly better, but they're both very good.

The trick here is to have them bring you a tub of rice. You know, a container of rice with the scoop included. I've done this at Amarin's several times and been either not charged or charged $3.50 regardless of people at the table.

I'd have to say my first real bad experience with MyFolsom was taking their advice of Jennie's Palace as the Best Chinese Food in Folsom. This was nearly two years ago. I am constantly amazed to see Jennie's win year after year.
Honestly, I know Chinese food. I grew up on it. There are certain dishes that should be made a certain way and to a certain standard, no matter what restaurant you're in. Um, yeah, Jennie's is not up to snuff. It's what Chinese food enthusiasts would call "Americanized Chinese food".
If anyone is into Asian All-You-Can-Eat, E. Bidwell Seafood is probably the best you can do in Folsom. Umeko's on Folsom Blvd. in Rancho is fabulous. Avoid Luau Garden. I've never tried the one in Roseville, we always get pulled into Chipotle's instead.
One good Chinese restaurant on Broadway, east of Tower Records on the north side of the street. The restaurant is set-back from the street. Thai Spice also on Broadway is good.
For Dim Sum, try King's Chinese on West Capital in West Sac. The place is pretty dead except for take-outs during the week, but busier than heck on the weekends during dim sum hours (10-2).

You should give Jennie's another try. They had an extensive de-Americanization process a few months ago and replaced the white waiter and the latino cook with a German waiter and an English cook.

Hey Rat
Welcome to myfolsom. I agree on the Jennie's issue. I have not had good Chinese here in Folsom. If you want sweet and sour port, combination fried rice and beef with broccoli, you won't be disappointed. If you want more interesting stuff, you have to go out of town.
I don't know the place on Broadway you are talking about, there is a place WEST of the Tower theater, on the north side, called Fortune House. It is very good. Daimo on Folsom near Bradshaw is good though expensive.
