NOTE: Not the World Cut, but US soccer . . .               :cheer:

US women’s soccer games now generate more revenue than men’s—but the players still earn less

https://www.cnbc.com...-than-mens.html

U.S. women’s soccer games have generated more revenue than U.S. men’s games over the past three years.

That’s according to audited financial statements from the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) obtained by The Wall Street Journal. In 2016, women’s games generated $1.9 million more in revenue than men’s games. From 2016 to 2018, women’s games generated approximately $50.8 million in revenue, compared with $49.9 million for men’s games.

The Journal report notes that the “ability of the women’s team to generate gate revenues that equals or exceeds the men’s team is an important battleground,” and central to an ongoing lawsuit filed against the USSF by 28 members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team in March.

Guess the kinda means that the protests have merit!

Just a quick fact about soccer to put the equal pay question to rest:

2018 FIFA revenue earned from Men's World Cup: $6 Billion
2019 FIFA revenue earned from Women's World Cup: $131 Million

Viewership for men's tournament is 3x that of the women's.

Ask yourself why the WNBA pays far less than the NBA and you will be enlightened.

Equal Pay!! ... because we said so. Yeah, that makes sense. /S

Slow, how dare you bring out the "old" conservative math when the "new" math makes so much sense to the liberals.....!  The numbers go their way when they leave out stuff and do their make believe....   You know, Unicorns and soft bunny math for the uneducated, liberal, progressive masses.  Like many things in life, it is all how you look at it.  With these numbers I say the women soccer players should take a 50% pay cut to be in line with compensation for all, you know, "fairness" and "equality", an even playing field, all things equal and apportioned per the liberal doctrine.  No matter how hard you work or study, suffer and do without, the turd sitting on his mom's couch, smoking dope, playing nintendo 12 hours a day, on the dole,  deserves the same compensation as you.....?  So say the liberal progressives.  I say no, NO WAY....!  Get your behind out there and work three jobs, 18 hours a day and you get somewhere, eventually you do, takes a few years but it works, trust me, I know.  I did it and for almost a decade while earning a science degree.    Equal opportunity for all and unequal outcomes is what makes America great.....!   Separates the wheat from the chaff..... Slackers go their way, I go my way.  Democrats, stop messing with the natural order of things.  Income re-distribution is evil.....!   Not your business what people make, not your job to spread it around, we will do that on our own, we do not need your "help" in the form of confiscation and taxation.    Chris

World Cup, FIFA soccer, US Soccer. Not sure they are the same thing.

This article says US Women's soccer brought in more than US Men's soccer in study by the Wall Street Journal.

Women's games: $50.8 million

Men's games: $49.9 million

America is NOT on the Dems side on pretty much every issue:

73% approve of the citizenship question on the census
79% do not favor open borders
95% believe immigrants should go through the customs process and fill out the appropriate forms
74% do not want health care subsidies to go to illegal immigrants
80% are against illegal immigration in any form
62% believe illegal or undocumented immigrants should not be included when considering representation in Congress

The problem on the left is that the moderates are being left out of their own party and find themselves much more aligned with Republican values.

The epitaph on the DNC will show death by suicide.

Vin, your article lists GATE REVENUES.  That is a fraction of TOTAL revenues.   You have merchandise, on site sales (beer, etc), and the HUUUUGE difference maker, television revenues.  And no, USSF is NOT FIFA (the big one).   It is disingenuous to argue that women bring in the revenue men do in soccer. ANd no, they should NOT be paid as much as the men's team.  Should a salesman who brings in 1 million dollars in sales be paid the same as one who brings in 10 million?  No. Simple.  But I guess not so simple for simpletons...

Right Joe; I meant to pose that as a question.

Yes, look at Latin America alone, where (men's) football has stratospheric enthusiastic support.

(And notice I didn't add any personal insults at the end.)

Sorry vin, I thought that there was a chance you might take that as a personal attack, but I left it in. My bad. It was not directed at you, (I love my liberal forum members) but at the masses of simpletons that believe the "equal pay" nonsense of 78% pay for equal work.

The TRUTH about the equal pay for World cup is that despite revenues of 4 billion for men and 73 million for women, the women are paid 13% of the revenues and the men are paid 9%. So in TRUTH, they are paid almost 50% more than the men as a percentage of revenues...

Yes, Slow: Facts are facts.

The confounding thing is that different people can reach different interpretations of the same facts.

Not necessarily a bad thing.

Also, it's easy to lie with statistics.

Example: Men's soccer brings in $6 billion,

and as you say, winners get $400 million.

But all the other players and all the other teams get paid out of that $6 billion.

So, maybe using the % going to the winners alone is not a valid comparison.

THIS IS WHY WE LOVE OUR PRESIDENT!!!

SCOTUS turns down Trump's request to add the citizenship question to the census... NO PROBLEM!!!

His executive order today uses existing databases and frees up information sharing between federal agencies to get a count "far more accurate" then the census would provide.

This is absolutely brilliant as it cuts the legs out from any fantastical theory from the left about disenfranchising... whoever they hallucinated would be disenfranchised.

Winning...
More Winning...
And still..... MORE WINNING!!!!!

Oh, my dear little Slow one!

That assessment is the work of spin doctors.
They are trying to cover up a massive defeat for the president.
He just learned that there are actually THREE branches of government and

the Supreme Court ruled against him.

That think-tank spin piece was meant only to save face for a defeated wanna-be dictator.

But don't worry; the damage is done. The only purpose (proven by email trails) was for

the GOP to scare the bejesus out of Dreamers, so they wouldn't vote, and that

has already been accomplished to a large degree.

The founder of BET brings truth to power!!! How many times can people tell the left that they're completely on the wrong track??

"The party in my opinion, for me personally, has moved too far to the left, Johnson, the founder of cable network BET and RLJ Companies business network, told CNBCs Hadley Gamble Tuesday.

And for that reason, I dont have a particular candidate (Im supporting) in the party at this time, he said. I think at the end of the day, if a Democrat is going to beat Trump, then that person, he or she, will have to move to the center and you cant wait too long to do that.

Johnson described himself as a long-time centrist and Democrat. He publicly supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. However, he has since expressed admiration for some of Donald Trumps policies, particularly those related to the economy.

I think the economy is doing great, and its reaching populations that heretofore had very bad problems in terms of jobs and employments and the opportunities that come with employment so African-American unemployment is at its lowest level, Johnson said.

Great post Slow!  I think we are fighting the biggest war for America since the American Revolution. Everything this country was founded on is being attacked by the liberals (Democratic Party).

They say they are not extreme and that they want fairness and balance, but we see everyday their actions are contrary to their talk.

We must defeat them.

I'm very heartened by the House vote to condemn racism.       :sun:

Glad that decent members of Congress have the courage to stand up for American values.

A Divided House votes for Resolution Condemning Trump's Racist Remarks.
