Yeah, someday the truth will prevail.  The truth is that outside of New York, the actual rate of covid and deaths from covid is pretty low in the US  Every model keeps getting revised down for projected cases and deaths.

“Statistical model” refers to putting U.S. data onto the graph of other countries’ Covid-19 deaths over time under the assumption that the U.S. epidemic will mimic that in those countries. But countries’ countermeasures differ significantly. As the epidemic curve in the U.S. changes due to countermeasures that were weaker or later than, say, China’s, the IHME modelers adjust the curve to match the new reality.

The latest report (used by the Coronovirus Task Force) reduced it's estimate for the US deaths by 13% (from last weeks estimate). The low end of the current estimate is HALF what the normal flu kills.  The high end is double. In other words, the median estimate is about what the normal flu deaths occur.  Florida, who was given massive pushback for not closing sooner has had their estimate revised down 70%.  Other than NY, the "massive shortage" of ventilators and hospital beds never occurred.

Under the three scenarios for test performance characteristics, the population prevalence of COVID-19 in Santa Clara ranged from 2.49% (95CI 1.80-3.17%) to 4.16% (2.58-5.70%). These prevalence estimates represent a range between 48,000 and 81,000 people infected in Santa Clara County by early April, 50-85-fold more than the number of confirmed cases. 

 

That could have HUGE implications for mortality and reasoning for the shutdown.

Turns out there were CONFIRMED deaths in Santa Clara on Feb 9th from covid.  It takes about a month to die after infection so that means that covid was in CA the first week of January.  Hmmm, just like what AJ has been saying...CA had already been exposed long before we knew it.  The distancing may be helping, but the shutdown is getting ridiculous given what we now know.

 

I am now certain that I had covid starting Jan 31-Feb 12. Sickest I've been in memory. Nothing life threatening though...just feeling like cr@p for a week and then slow recovery. (I have none of the risk factors other than being mid 50s).  No one else in family got sick.

Rant ahead....

 

I am so darned tired of people trying to convince me the Covid-19 virus isn't real!!!!  They want to come visit me, they want me to join them for a gathering at their house. They don't wear face masks or distance themselves from others. They are bored with staying home and want everything to go back to normal.

 

What's with these people??? Don't they listen to the news??? Don't they value their lives??? I'm an old lady that could die from this, if I caught it. Just because they want to ignore what is mandated by the government, doesn't mean I want to.

 

Yeah, it's the pits staying home and there are times I get tired of it too, but I don't try to convince others they should do as I do.

 

Do what you are willing to risk your life for! Leave others alone to do what they feel is right for them!
