Apologies for coming to this discussion late. 

A question:  The Bee said the girl alleged "forced oral copulation."  Without wanting to seem naive (ok, maybe I am), doesn't this seem like an odd accusation?  How can this even happen?

Wow, I don't know how careful we have to be here in our descriptions, but I think we're assuming when we speak of OC that we're talking female on male, but the reverse (male on female) could be true also. And all that "force" requires is the threat of harm or the perception of harm will occur if resisted.

of course, you all know that the motivation for this girl coming forward now is perfectly altruistic.  of course.

and his alleged actions make him a scum-bag.  wow.  i hope you are not judged in the same way prior to being found guilty.

interesting side-note - odd how many people are willing to convict someone of something, yet how little people are willing to serve on a jury.

at least let the courts do their job before ruining this man's reputation.  i hope if he is innocent that you use the same vigor to restore his reputation.

We have not ALL condemned the man. Many of us are discussing the issue of molestation and have acknowledged that we don't know if he is guilty or not. However, you have condemned all of us without really reading the posts.

OK, I was a student in MR. McEvoy's class last year, and I though he was a really good teacher. He never tried to do anything to me, and I agree with all the people who say innocent until proven guilty. Besides did it occur to anyone that maybe he actually wanted to teach the students as a tutor. There's a whole bunch of sides we don't know because we only know her side of it. And he isn't scum, he made just about everyone understand what he was teaching. He made it intresting. I've never had another teacher like that. Ever.

Ok this scares the out of me... Mr McEvoy was my english teacher last year And if your talking about knowing him personaly well i do he was and he would never do anything so disturbing like this. and i would like to know the facts about this and how these charges came to be.. if he did than, this man... noway that would suck well if anyone knows the facts or proof i would like to know. and he is deffinetly not a SCUMBAG...well if it turns out he did do this he might me a half a scumbag but he is still the best teacher in my books..

I hope they bust this guy to the full extent of the law, he abused the trust he had with this student and he will likely go after others, he needs to be in jail, he's a scum bag low life.

Hmmm, nice to know you've done a full investigation and have determined the guy is guilty. And of course the girl isn't lying because young girls never lie about stuff like this. We're so lucky to have people like you to jump to conclusions.

Teacher Accused of Molestation Faces New Charge
During an arraignment in Sacramento County Superior Court today, a former Folsom High School English teacher learned today he is facing an additional felony molestation charge.

Jason Douglas McEvoy, 34, is accused of having sexual relations on multiple occasions with a 16-year-old female Folsom High student. He now faces two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts in connection with those alleged incidents. He did not enter a plea today.

According to police, the sexual contact occurred last April. At the time, McEvoy was under contract as a teacher at the Folsom campus. He was not rehired this school year. The girl and her parents filed their report last month.

McEvoy is free on bail. He declined to comment as he left court today, but his attorney, Michael Chastaine, questioned why there was such a long lapse between the alleged incidents and the time the girl came forward. He said McEvoy is not teaching or tutoring children and is instead concentrating on dealing with the case.

Maybe what cv means is that many mug shots look like they were taken right after police had pulled the accused out of bed at 5 am......Someone who is tired, unshaven, and worried certainly is not putting his best foot forward. Maybe that's not a "guilty" look, but it is often unattractive.

However, some guilty people look quite presentable. Take Scott Peterson, for example.

Is this even close to “child molestation?” Welcome to your culture, folks, where 16 year old girls dress like absolute whores and --according to a student with experience at FHS --offer sexual favors for better grades, masturbate in the backs of classrooms and flash teachers. IF he did this it’s clearly a violation of trust, obviously a crime (legally,) but “child molestation?” Gimme a break.

Nope, there is no way this should be considered "child molestation" no matter what happened.

Pedophilia is a mental disease that causes people to be attracted to pre-pubescent kids, often resulting in child molestation.

Throughout most of human history, being attracted to others who have gone through puberty is normal and makes sense biologically.

Now, if guilty, this guy did commit a crime, but it shouldn't be considered child molestation.

Afterall, why would we give "children" control of something far more deadly than sex...the family SUV?

We don't. We decide that these children are mature enough to operate a 4,000lb vehicle at 70 mph but we are always certain that these same sweet little angels were forced or coerced into a sexual relationship.
