North Korea's leader isn't pleased with the latest film from funnymen Seth Rogen and James Franco, in which the pair play assassins pretending to be TV newscasters in order to kill the North Korean president.

A Kim spokesman called it an 'act of war'

The government of North Korea is not pleased with Seth Rogen’s upcoming film The Interview, calling it a “wanton act of terror.”

The movie—slated for release later this year—stars Seth Rogen and James Franco, who attempt to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after landing an interview with despot.

The North Korean government has promised a “merciless” retaliation against the United States if The Interview is released, calling the film an “act of war.” In a statement published by the state-run KCNA news agency, a spokesman said the film is the work of “gangster moviemakers” and is a “wanton act of terror.”

I have mixed feelings about this one, Now's probably not the right time to be poking at the unstable regime in North Korea and it's pathetic unstable dictator. Rogen and Franco should of taken a tour of the D.M.Z. prior to making this movie, Any rational person taking the short bus ride from Seoul to the border would quickly become aware of how serious the real world consequences can be for needlessly provoking this unstable regime. I think Rogen and Franco should take a D.M.Z. tour on opening night of the movie.

One of the reasons I posted this is because I wonder what the difference is between this and muslims getting upset over cartoon depictions of Muhammed.

Where do we draw the line?

if Iran made a feature-length movie about killing Barack Obama, people here would be offended too.  but we believe in free speech, so what can you do?  Best Korea has been mocked many times in movies.  I havent heard, but I suspect they aren't successful in assassinating the chubby despot, so maybe no harm, no foul?

yeah, its real over there, but the guy is also pretty thin skinned.  I know there were north koreans in Los Angeles who were upset at some hair salon that mocked the great leader's hairstyle.  They demanded billboards be taken down and immediate apology.

I don't think we should limit our free speech based on offending Muslim extremist or idiotic dictators, But i do think that people should be responsible in exercising their free speech, Kind of like the way most of us do in our daily lives. IMO based on having been to Seoul and taken the short bus ride to the DMZ and looking into North Korea, I understand that the people putting out this movie now are being irresponsible. If they plan on following through with this exercise in free speech they should put some skin in the game by going to Seoul and sitting there with it's 10 million residents who risk having their city flattened and invaded by North Korea over this movie.

The pansy is China's plaything. They scoff at his whines and bellow with laughter when he falls drunkenly out of his bed and demands death to the person who fogot to hand him his slippers. He is an idolatress of Nero- without the backbone or the oomph to become. In short (well he is that as well) no one ever spanked him and told him to stop complaining and see the world with big people's eyes.

Perhaps you should go to the D.M.Z. and explain this to the Army Rangers, Marines and R.O.K. soldiers posted up there that put their lives on the line everyday as a trip wire to keep the peace. It probably wouldn't workout too well for you.

*chuckles...

North Korean army is not going to invade, anytime soon. You have been brainwashed if you really think they will. Chubby pancake face is too lazy to figure out how to make his country more self sufficient to feed the masses. He is dependent on American welfare and rice stamps. He rattles his old keyboard and writes "dire" threats every summer; then "demands" rice every winter to keep his nuclear farm plans from proceeding- from zilch to inept.

There has not been peace there in 65 years.       The Russian Text Book of Psychopolitics has had long success with past Russian leaders.      Unfortunately the system continues today in North Korea to this date in controlling the population.    A lot of people had to pay the price in the past and more innocent people will in the future unless the North Korean leader is removed from power.

^ I really like this woman - she speaks the unbridled truth about Kim Jong Ding Dong, the dumbest despot on the planet....

I'm really looking forward to seeing Seth Rogan and James Franco make fun of that idiot Kim Dong in their new movie.  Good for them for making some quality entertaining hilarious films.

Hey why does a line have to be drawn these days? Why do we have to tip toe around overly sensitive religions and people? Why do we have to change our ways to cater to a few? Too bad for those pansy's out there that can't take it, this is called Freedom of Speech in America.  Anyone who doesn't like it doesn't have to watch it.  That's the beautify of freedom - nobody is forcing anyone to watch, read or listen to this stuff. It's THEIR choice and if they get upset about it, boo freakin' hoo, too bad.

If Spongebob Squarepants had a nuclear weapon, I wouldn't be acting like it was a game of checkers.  I'm with Nomad on this one.  We all agree he's an idiot, but a well-armed one that we need to treat like a coiled rattlesnake.

uuuhmmm- well armed?

His missiles are impotent.

Everytime they shoot they break and land in his own territory. Unless he is aiding and abetting in the cleansing of farms in his own lands for a thousand years- he is no worry to us. Now and again, he actually gets one that lands in the ocean. And then Japan mocks him with parades. Loosen up, chill out. The dude will eat himself to death before we have to worry about him.
