A Pint can never be 20oz.  A Pint is a Pint, 16oz. That's like saying a 1 Gallon (but not a 1.5 Gallon Gallon).

Still...fine craft brew can be had for 5.00-6.00 as you noted!  I would never pay $11.00 for the same.

Try the Imperial pint over at Churchill Arms, 20oz pal!

If you look up pints, you will find a lot of historical contradictions, as you might expect for non-metric units. The pint used in the US is based on British practice in the 18th century (1 pint = 1/8 gallon of wine, and is not quite the same as a pound despite the rhyme because wine is heavier than water). Then the British version was officially changed in the 19th century (1 Imperial pint = 1/8 Imperial gallon = volume of 10 lb water), and we didn't follow, because up theirs! All this has been maintained for a long time because metric units were seen as a symbol of bloody revolt and totalitarian repression in Britain's frenemy France, and then our rival Russia.

Last I checked we were in the US, where a pint is 16 US oz.

Had you said an Imperial pint, well that would be 20 Imperial oz.

The Imperial oz is actually about 4% less than a US fluid oz.

Therefore, that Imperial Pint is actually 19.215 US oz.

We tried the Folsom Tap House last night for the first time. Kids loved the chalkboard tabletops. The street tacos were very good, and a good price at only $1.99 each during happy hour. Skip the garlic fries and pear salad. The server was friendly but there were eight in our party and everyone's food came out at a different time.

Me and the family ate there recently, and it was good!  I recommend the ruben sandwich.  Our server was polite and friendly, too.

We talked to the owner a bit, who was there managing the restaurant personally.  He said they were making significant changes to the management team, and constantly tweaking the menu based on feedback.  He seemed very ernest to listen and make changes.

Maybe give it another try, and see if things have improved?

We've been a few times to Folsom Tap House this past month and everything was great. I had read about the growing pains via reviews and it looked like they had a rough start with some staff that turned out to be slackers but it appears those problems have all been resolved now.

When we went, the service was impeccable. We were seated immediately and served quickly. The staff was attentive and very helpful. We ordered a couple of the beer samplers that were very excellent (and they happened to be half off for happy hour that day). I like how they serve up the beer samplers on cool wooden trays with labels for the beers, we also enjoyed Jeff's detailed explanations about each beer.

For food we tried the salmon sliders and chicken wings. First off I have to admit I'm not fan of chicken wings but good grief these were really really good chicken wings! They were made exactly the way I like them, nice and crisp with a great taste.  The salmon sliders were excellent, very tasty and very fresh. I can't wait to back and have more.

All in all I think Folsom Tap House is doing it right, I plan to go back often.  The only thing I'd recommend is that they open for lunch too.

We have been there a few times, our friends like the beer options. The service was painfully slow, the kitchen was backed up 1 hour (the first thing the server said to us) its ok, they had run out of the appetizer we wanted anyway, what we did order was just ok, but after our food was delivered and it sat because it took a very long time to get forks and napkins.   Drinks at the bar would be fine, its a lively feel.  I do appreciate the fact that the Tap House hosted a fundraiser for a Folsom Family in need.

I've taken the family here a few times.  Decent food and beer selection, awful service.  Dinner service is so poor it is almost comical.  A few weeks ago we went and waited for more than 15 minutes for the waitress to even stop by our table. Then, after ordering drinks, waited another 15 minutes for her to bring them and take our food order. Nearly got up and left. The place was only about half full, so it wasn't an issue with crowds.  I've been in for lunch, and service was marginally better.   It's really to bad too, I really want the place to succeed and love the family friendly tap house idea.  The execution however is just plain bad.  Too many other similar places with great food AND service to bother going back again.

I have to agree that the service isn't great. My kids love the food there and, in fact, that's where my son wanted to go for his birthday dinner on Weds. During dinner he even said that as much as he loves the food, he doesn't know if we should return because the service isn't that good.

The location is cursed. The Sports Garage before it also had terrible service. Kind of odd since you can see the entire place from every seat in the house.

I feel badly for the owners. I've gotten to know Jeff and Gail pretty well over the years. They even became clients.

I've witnessed them in action. I've heard their frustration. They train and instruct their people well, but sometimes execution suffers.

At their other place, the Back Wine Bar and Bistro, and though every place has hiccups and missed opportunities, things seem to flow pretty smoothly over there.

I was at the Tap House on election night with a party of 6 family and friends. Tuesdays are usually pretty slow, so they were not expecting a group of 10 which showed up a little while later, and about a dozen folks who were there to check out the election results, in addition to the normal flow. They were overwhelmed, and not much they could do about it but hustle.

Hopefully, everything will work out.

By the way, their calamari tacos and spinach salad are fantastic!

I don't know if it's cursed, but the previous restaurants there did perform poorly.

When it was in its first incarnation as the Ravine, we went with a couple, and were ignored as the staff chatted, except for the busser who came to collect the place settings, as the kitchen was closed. No one came to offer a drink. We left.

When it was Abs Bar, the bartenders were good, but not much else.

When another couple, I think John and Gita, had it. Food was good, people were great, but I don't think the neighborhood supported it.

John G and I went to the Sports Garage when it first opened. I think we were the only ones there for lunch, and it took half an hour to get our ill-prepared food.

I truly hope the Tap House makes it. The atmosphere is great, food good, people friendly, and it's the perfect type of place for the area; family friendly and not too expensive.

Maybe we'll do a myfolsom Monday Night Football event there. Interested?

I'm with you Steve, I really want this place to succeed.  It was the first restaurant I took the family to when we moved to Folsom this spring.  But after 4 separate visits I'm done giving them my money.  It's not just me.  A coworker went and ended up leaving before ordering as they were ignored.  A neighbor had the same experience.  When I was in for lunch last week, another table got up and left (with their menus and water still on the table) I'm sure for the same reason.

My observation is even when the place is busy the servers are missing in action.  By that I mean, they just disappear for long periods of time.  Not sure what they are doing? I know the owner has a another restaurant, but if he wants this one to succeed he needs to be there more. If he can't, the place is going to fail.
