Take it from a kid who attends Folsom High, it isnt pretty. Pretty much everyone i know drinks till the dont remember anything, smoke pot after school everyday, or have sex at wild parties every weekend.
Check up on your kids, and i mean it. Its a bigger issue than you know

It is a sad commentary that any students feel like this. Do you high school students have any suggestions for what kinds of things we worrisome parents can do about it?
Should we bring in drug dogs? Have a parent volunteer corps to roam the halls? Others??

No, just be a parent and look out for your kids, what else CAN you do?

Why would you be concerned about having a drug dog if you're not one of those kids?
Do you know about these wild parties personally? There are many parents who would like to see them shut down if it's true.
Or are you just talking about a small percentage of kids and just trying to scare all the parents?
We CAN find where you live.

Trust me, it isnt just a small percent....it huge....maybe 75-80%
Do i know about these wild parties personally? Um, yes, been to a few in my time here
And if you can really find out where i live, i say, have fun, you are wasting your time

I think you're trying to scare or boast. Far more in depth studies have been conducted that say a much lower number than you guess. Do you ask kids or do you personally see 2000 kids at these wild parties? Yes, your school has about 2500 kids. Do the math.
I'll bet you'll tell your buddies how you "messed with people's heads" on the computer.
Eat your veggies and do your homework.

Your timing is perfect. We are not ready to announce it just yet, but local police, healthcare, school officials, counselors and some parents are meeting weekly to plan our healthy families forum for late may.
We'll cover the issues of drug and alcohol abuse among our kids, supported by testimonials and statistics, and then provide information and solutions for dealing with the problem.
It will be a 'MUST attend ' for every concerned citizen. The drug problem is serious, is growing, with predators giving and selling drugs to our kids, more and more each day.
We can do something about it. We must!
I'll have more later. I'll be out of town for the next couple of days, so I won't be able to reply here.

You drop the bombshell allegation that the vast majority of teens at Folsom High are engaging in sex, drugs, and drinking... but then that's it. You don't seem to have any well thought out ideas for how to change the situation, nor do you offer any analysis of why the situation exists.
What, in your opinion, are the root causes? Boredom? (With school? With life?) Absentee parents? Media influence? Pressure to succeed? Lack of moral compass? What could be done to address the causes?
Why aren't school anti-drug and sex ed programs working?
Don't just drop a tabloid-style allegation. Offer us some thoughts and analysis!!

Many kids are doing drugs, having sex, and drinking heavily. Why? Because it is the cool thing to do these days. Dont ask me how it is, but at Folsom High, if you are popular, you are most likely a partier too.
Why to i got to give analysis anyway? Im just stating a fact, and many of you want to ignore it (typical of some parents these days)
Open your eyes, look around, and you will see and hear it. Do i know how to stop it? Not really, i just think Parents being more vigilant would work

Certainly there is a chance that he is a "troll." But like Steve said, the subject is important enough, and is one that we should be discussing anyway. I am also concerned about making blanket statements regarding today's teens, and their not being "able or willing to analyze anything, or really think about it beyond a superficial level." (We are listening to a young member of our community, not giving critique on a term paper.)
Sometimes our kids come to us with concerns which they have not yet thought out or analyzed. It is our job as parents and adult members of the community to listen, ask the appropriate questions, and help them think through the issue. We should be glad that our kids are trying to communicate with us.
FolsomJunior, I sincerely thank you for your posts. As tessieca mentioned, please let us know what we can do as concerned parents and citizens. This is an important subject!

I don't think teens of today are angels but hey this figure is outrageous!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a break.
With this figure of 70 - 80 %, believe me, Folsom High would already made local headlight news.
