their parents say "those things are too loud, go ride them somewhere else!
oh - and make sure it's from 10pm to 1am please!"

I just heard the neighbors talking... "I hate those things, they are SO loud"

maybe there should be a noise ordinance put in place? (or maybe there's one not being enforced?)

methinks strategically placed spike-strips will put an end to this!

I'm sure that it is just a much faster (and easier) means of travel for teens. It's not like they are camping outside your house reving their scooters all night, they just zip on by and thats it. I think it would be a great thing for those kids who are too old to bike but too young to drive. We dont need more laws or ordinances in California and a spike strip would come back to haunt us on one forgetful morning.

I don't beileve those scooters are street legal and I know they cannot be ridden in the bike lanes or on the sidewalk. So, I think what we are lacking is enforcement.

I pass these kids all the time on my bicycle. Why can't they ride one too?

Because that would require way too much effort! They don't want to wear themselves out or they will be to tired to work their game controllers. tongue.gif

they zip through the school parking lots at all hours, maybe it's just the summertime... hopefully it will stop when school gets going in 2 days lmaosmiley.gif

I haven't seen ANY of those kids wearing helmets on their scooters, most are probably ages 14+ so it's not "legal' to have to wear helmets, but I'm sure their trips will be short lived after one big wreck...

I bet those scooters generate more smog than my car ohmy.gif

It has got to be hard to be a kid these days. Don't you remember the "good old days" when a kid could be a kid? I am sure (I hope) you would have been ashamed if you knew someday you would be complaining about scooters.

I think a lot of folks have completely forgotten what it was like to be a kid in the good ol' days - when we were allowed to be kids ...

I feel sorry for the way kids are treated like criminals these days by paranoid people

sorry, we didn't have gas powered scooters when I was growing up... although, we did have dirtbikes, but I don't know anyone who rode at 10pm...

why? probably because we were smart enough not to ride around in the dark!

no one ever said that the kids are treated like criminals...
they're just not following the noise ordinance laws after 10pm, it's not a criminal act - it's just rude
