So, as far as games are concerned it was one of the most fun to watch. Two great teams which matched up better than I'd expected. A couple of Cinderella Stories:

Chris Matthews, un-drafted out of college. Played in the CFL. Was working at Foot Locker when the Seahawks called. Had his very first NFL catch in the Superbowl, ending the game with 4 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. He was the Seahawks' leading receiver on the day.

Then there was Malcolm Butler of the Patriots, and un-drafted rookie who had just given up a 33 yard catch and was determined to make it up. Recognizing a Seahawks play he'd been burned on by the practice squad, he stepped up and made the game-saving interception for the Patriots.

It was a blunderous call anyway, with Marshawn Lynch in the backfield and New England unable to stop him throughout the game.

As for commercials, mostly forgettable. Nothing really stood out. Maybe the Brady Bunch Snickers one.

Now, about that half-time show. I read several reports calling it one of the best ever, and that Katy Perry 'blew them away'.

I thought it was one of the worst ever! She is terrible! It was great if you are 11 years old. I imagine Lenny Kravitz took the gig because 100 million people were watching. Missy Elliott, who hasn't had a hit in years and who had stopped performing due to Graves disease, was actually the most fun part of that segment.

Other than that, I have no opinion whatsoever.

PS. I was happy to see Richard Sherman, who is a great player but a big trash-talker, practically crying when he witnessed that interception!  richard%20sherman_zpsvxocj9cd.jpg

Pete over- thinked it on that last series. Instead of run (use time out if stopped), pass, run he got tricky and it didn't pay off. There may also be an aspect of let's have Wilson toss that winning TD and he gets the MVP instead of Lynch who we all know hates the media and isn't the guy you really want up there.

As for the commercials, most of them were viewed before the game. The one that pissed me off was the Jeep one where they had "This Land is your land" but then proceed to show places in China, India, Saudi, etc. WTF is that supposed to mean? Am I really going to buy a Jeep and export it to all these places? How about not ruin a great song with images of places that don't pertain!

The Game: One of the better Supper Bowls I've seen

The Commercials: What a huge letdown.  I guess part of it was many of the commercials were released before the game so there was no surprise.  But the commercials were just boring for the most part.

The Halftime Show: I would have liked to see more Lenny Kravitz, less (or no) Missy Eliot, and more shark.  I think the shark was the best part.

The fight at the end confirmed all the stereotypes / prejudices I have about football players.

Computer graphics have now gotten good enough that basically nothing they can put on the screen is amazing any more. Hollywood has put out about eight movies a year for the past fourteen years where giant robots or supervillians are knocking down skyscrapers. So the "Game Of War" ad and so on do nothing interesting. Surprised by the gloomy commercials. Children crushed by TV's, "The Slap", lost dogs. I'll be home for Superbowl, you can plan on me. Miss the Bud Bowl.

I enjoyed the halftime show. This does not mean it was good, per se.

I'll take a great Super Bowl game, right down to the very end and so so commercials than the alternative. Who can forget last years "Super Bowl", It was over at halftime and watching the second half for the commercials and see who would win the football pool.

One of the top 5 Super Bowls, Lets hope #50 in Santa Clara in 2016  will have the 49ers hosting Pittsburgh or Baltimore.  Okay, I can dream can't I?
