I mean come on Folsom. We build this great looking overpass and will do a tunnel too. We are doing the trails and all and then we put the guitar in the dirt? It can't even be seen. Will it even survive Halloween? It's just laying there begging to be vandalized. I think it stinks. Johnny deserves better. What brilliant planner made this decision? I am certainly no engineer or anything but why not have it ON the overpass? It would look so cool and be safe too. This needs to be corrected imo. As is it is ridiculous.

I agree and said the same thing to a friend the other day- At Least put some rockery or even grass around it and for sakes- clean it once and a while- it was so dusty and dirty the other day it blended in with the DIRT -- Show some CLASS Folsom...
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Ditto. I drive by it everyday and wonder how long it'll take before some hooligans trash it. It's always struck me as a semi-odd, half-hearted effort.

Are you sure the guitar you're looking at is the real art piece? I know they had a huge guitar over by the trail for the Amgen race as they wanted some interesting footage from the sky. I'm not sure what that was made of but I believe it's temporary.

Exactly. This guitar was a low-budget temporary piece placed for the Amgen tour by the 50 Corridor Transportation Management Association (a non-profit promoting alternative transportation) with, I think, a little funding assistance from Parks & Rec. It's actually doing quite well considering it is nothing but painted 2x4s and plywood (total cost was a couple hundred bucks; built by a carpenter). Think of it as a precursor to the permanent art exhibits for which fund raising is just getting under way.

Ah, ok. That makes sense then.

Nice to get the feedback and it's good to know this is only temporary. It does finally make sense. As for the plywood I think it is already starting to warp a bit in the Folsom heat. Between that and the dirt covering it's almost an eyesore. Would LOVE to see a nice one ON the overpass. Not sure if that is in the works or not. Lets hope the vandals don't read this page. Now that the word is out that it's just a cheapie temporary it could embolden them. Although why would that matter to a vandal?

Any pics?
Haven't seen it.

From the angle of the signal light waiting to turn left onto Natoma Street it looks like it's laying in the dirt like it never got installed upright. It's nice to hear it's not meant to be permanent.
