From the Sac Biz Journal on 4/5/2016 (http://www.bizjourna...ng-opening.html)

:

Since you're already thinking about baseball, this is a good time to note that we finally have an opening date for the region's first Dick's Sporting Goods store. The location at 1003 E. Bidwell St. in Folsom is scheduled to open on April 22. Yes, there will be a grand-opening celebration, and it will include former Sacramento Kings player Mike Bibby. The Folsom site, which fills a former Save Mart space, is the Pennsylvania-based company's 42nd store in California. Sports Authority, one of the chain's retail competitors, recently filed for bankruptcy. But analysts are more confident about the future of Dick's. The retailer hasannounced plans to open 36 new stores.

That's good news.

When God created the ice cream sandwich, he said, "OK, I'm done here".

It will also be interesting to see how the health club situations play out. Right now we have 3 major clubs:

24 hour

Cal Fit

Broadstone

There are a bunch of other smaller clubs but they tend to come and go or have relatively small client base.

Now add Lifetime Fitness to the mix and it could get tough for some of the existing places. But the rates for Lifetime are outrageous, something close to $300 a month for a family of four and they will need a LOT of members to keep that place full. I guess the one in Roseville has enough people willing to pay that. Almost makes me wonder why they chose Folsom for the place but I guess we'll see. Maybe they think folks from EDH and above will join?

I couldn't justify paying that much for a gym membership. That is the payment of a reasonable vehicle per month. No thanks.

The new market near the East Natoma Blue Ravine intersection (Old Albertson's location) is set to open soon.  Five days, I think.

A liquidation company will be slashing prices, little by little. But, hey, that's how it works.

Very sad to see them go away.
