BORDEAUX BURGER
8 oz Black Angus, Sauteed Crimini Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions,
Burgundy Wine Sauce
and the
DUBLINER GUINNESS PORK BURGER
6 oz Ground Pork Shoulder Patty, Guinness BBQ Sauce, Cheddar, Crispy Tabacco Onions (I hope that's supposed to be tabasco and not tobacco)
or maybe I'll have a build your own. I think I'll ask for a taste of the above two sauces before I order.
After we picked Thursday, I scheduled a meeting for lunch today with our Healthcare Insurance Broker. Open enrollment is around the corner for us.

Well, if you want to order one of them and I order the other one, we could ask them to cut them in half so we could swap and we both get to try both of them.

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE
Jimmy Buffett
Tried to amend my carnivorous habits.
Made it nearly seventy days,
Losin' weight without speed, eatin' sunflower seeds,
Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays.
But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat.
Not zucchini, fettucini, or bulgar wheat,
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat.
Cheeseburger is paradise.
Heaven on earth with an onion slice.
Not too particular, not too precise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.
I like mine with lettuce and tomato,
Heinz Fifty-seven and French fried potatoes.
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer.
Well, good God Almighty, which way do I steer
For my cheeseburger in paradise.
Verse 2:
Heard about the oldtime sailor men,
They eat the same thing again and again;
Warm beer and bread they say could raise the dead.
Well, it reminds me of the menu at a Holiday Inn.
But times have changed for sailors these days.
When I'm in port I get what I need;
Not just Havanas or banana or daiquiris,
But that American creation on which I feed!
Cheeseburger is paradise medium rare with mustard'd be nice
Not too particular, not too precise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.
I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draught beer
Well, good god Almighty which way do I steer
For a cheeseburger in paradise
Makin' the best of every virtue and vice.
Worth every damn bit of sacrifice
To get a cheeseburger in paradise;
To be a cheeseburger in paradise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

one) for some reason, only with this topic, some stupid chatbar keeps on popping upwhen I try to reply. IE7 wouldn't let me reply but Firefox is but the bar still pops up, I think some thing has infected this forum as I have the same probelm at work and at home and also my wife's computer did the same thing not even signed on as user.
two) evader & I shared our burgers today so we both got to sample the Bordeaux Burger and the Guinness Pork Burger. I thought they both were tasty, but the Bordeaux was more flavorful. That surprised me as I sampled the sauces before ordering and the sauce with mushrooms in it for the Bordeaux tasted just like auteed mushrooms, nothing special, where as the sauce for the Guinness burger had a little kick to it. I think they put so little sauce on the pork burger, the sauce flavor didn't really come through. both were very juicy and meaty tasting. I might try the lamb next time, minus the pesto though.

The Bordeaux burger and thin crispy pommes frites were very good and what I expected from a spin off of Bidwell Street Bistro who has a great burger on their lunch menu. As Bill mentioned, we split our burgers so that we got to sample our top two choices. I also thought the Bordeaux was better and also agree while very flavorful, Relish needs to kick their sauces up a bit. Not to be overpowering but more flavor.
What I didn't expect is better prices - $7.95 to $10.50 for a truly gourmet burger with fries, err prommes frites (tastes even better with gourmet name ) You can get a cheaper meal at In-n-Out, Carls etc but this is on par with Red Robin and other restaurant prices so if the choice is Red Robin or Relish....I'm going to Relish even though Red Robin also has a great burger.
For ambiance Relish did a great job. Nice, upscale, modern without being high end or the opposite - a burger barn\McD's playland. Looks like they are working on an outdoor bar and patio that will overlook the fields towards White Rock and Latrobe Rd south. I can envision a nice afternoon with burger and beer relaxing on that patio.
Service was impressive considering Relish has been open for only 4 days. I arrived late to the burger review and Carnivore, Bill, Davburr and his daughter had already ordered however server came by almost immediately after I sat down with menu and drink order. I knew the menu and ordered lunch. Drink arrived moments later (nice!) and my burger arrived just a few minutes after the others which was surprising considering how busy they were. Another sign of good service is refilling water, iced tea glasses before they get empty. Considering this is lunch, we were in and out in under an hour which is another plus for anyone working nearby.
Rating: I'll be back!

Heheh not always cheap but I had to save money to also take the other lady of my life out too, the misses and I ended up going to Bidwell Street Bistro last night (2 great places in the same week, now that's livin'!).
I like the Relish Burger Bar, it has a great ambiance and looks very nice, there's plenty of good spacious seating and I can't wait to come back and hang out on the patio at night, the views look great from there. The choice of burgers, appetizers, salad's, etc is very good. I had the Bordeaux burger which is Black Angus, Sauteed Crimini Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, and Burgundy Wine Sauce. I was happy with it, the burger tasted great, it was cooked exactly to my liking (medium), the ingredients were fresh and the bun was nice and soft/fresh. I also like their shoestring sized fries, all in all it was an excellent lunch.
Here's some photos from the Burger Brigade's trip to the new Relish Burger Bar in EDH

Interior Shot (there is also a huge patio outside that overlooks the hills and the bar has a rolling door/wall that will open the bar for the outside, pretty cool.
