I like to visit big cities, they can be nice but I wouldn't want to live there. 30 years of L.A. was enough of living in big cities for me.
- we're heading to San Fran this weekend for the wife's Christmas party at the Four Seasons and Jardiniere restaurant and we're going to see the new California Academy of Science..... you can only get those kind of experiences in a big city.. NYC is a fun place too, so much to see and do... but you couldn't pay me to live there
I prefer the countryside and hope to someday buy a 10-20 acre spread up in the hills

You'll never be able to convince people who fear or just dislike city life that San Francisco or any other big city has any value.
To the rest of us, San Francisco can be a magical place. I'll be there this weekend, too. Actually on the Penninsula. Spend the night in Redwood City, jog along Foster City Levee, party in San Bruno, hit the city for coffee or ice cream on the way back if it's not raining.
Jardiniere is a beautiful, champagne themed restaurant. Awesome wine list. Expensive joint.

San Francisco is indeed a great place to visit, and of all the big cities I've been to all over the world, I have to say San Francisco is the best, with it's great history and impressive architecture, all the fantastic museums and parks and some of the best restaurants on the planet.
I really like Jardiniere, we went there last Christmas too, thank goodness its on the company dime though!

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Ask to be seated upstairs over-looking bar area....beautiful. Have fun!

We don't patronize Sacramento too often.
No offense.

Wow who does your wife work for AIG? I'm surprised any company is spending that kind of money in these though economic times. (Four Seasons, Jardiniere Really?)

There are plenty of reasons why Sacramento sucks, reasons which far outweigh any of the reasons it doesn't suck:
1) There's road construction everywhere. And they usually choose the hottest, busiest times and places to do it in.
2) It gets so damn hot in the Summer. You would think you were in Nevada or Arizona or Texas on any day in July. Admittedly, the winters are mild.
3) No good music has ever come out of Sacramento and all the radio stations are terrible. Most touring musicians choose to avoid Sacramento after playing here once.
4) There is nothing to do. You can see all the sights of Old Sac (A fitting name) in one day. There are few event centers, which mostly have nothing going on. If they do, it's likely geared towards old people.
5) The people here are terrible. Every young guy is a thug wannabe and every girl has an ego, despite most of them being less than attractive.
Some things that make Sacramento good:
1) There's sushi restaurants everywhere (As displayed in the above photos)
2) The tap water is better than most places.
That's about it. Sure, you can say it's "pretty" or whatever, but a skilled photographer can make anything look good. This picture of a swamp looks pretty cool.
But that doesn't mean I'd like to live there.

I'm curious why you were searching on that phrase in the first place?... this forum comes up on the first page of google under a "Why Sacramento Sucks" search ...

the only bright side is the media may inspire nuts to focus on political folks and not normal citizens but again you won't be finding old soldier at any town hall meetings in the future.
as far as food goes...what can be better than an in and out burger with cheese and onions and fries. I guess they could have a fine dining area for birthdays and anniversaries
