Wow, this is just so nasty. I hope they catch the person. This looks it was done on purpose.
Glad she is OK.

That poor woman. Why do people do things like this? There is no way that wasn't on purpose. It's sick and evil.

I am wondering if it was a kid who thought it funny to pull a malicious little prank, or if it was someone who hates the attitude of some of the bikers.
I'm guessing the trap hadn't been there very long, as the trails get a lot of use, so I wonder if the prankster was watching it all happen.
I use the bike trails myself, so now that's something for me to worry about.

But it wasn't the first time it had happened. There had been a previous incident.

oh, I hadn't heard this had happened twice in Folsom. Did not know that. I thought this was a repeat of the same incident in Folsom. One of my neighbors is a park ranger and informed us about the linked incident quite a while ago. Do you know if both happened in the same area?

From KXTV's website on September 18: "Park rangers said in the last two weeks they received another report of someone being caught in a fishing line on the bike trail near Hazel Bridge. That report is currently under investigation."

Guess that'll teach her to speed (5 mph over the legal speed limit) on the trails!
Yes, that was sarcasm. I've speed-demoned my way along the trails myself. I've heard of keeping an eye out for dog leashes stretched across the trail (owner letting the dog walk on the other side of the trail -- duh!!!), but, fishing line -- wow. Sad.

Regardless of age -- culprit should be charged with things like assault with a deadly weapon attempted murder. And then taken to the cleaners in a civil suit.
