Did anyone else notice that?

I must say that I haven't been a fan.

I remember once going there about 4pm. There were 2 other customers, and they were sitting at the bar.

I asked the bartender if they had happy hour and she said, 'Yes, but you have to drink it inside. Outside seating is for dining only.'

There was no one out there!

We ordered stuff anyway, and overall, it was bad.

BTW, if I owned that place, I'd turn the deck into more of a party atmosphere.

I'd throw a bar and some hi-top tables. I bet it would become THE spot for drinks and apps after work and on weekends.

Yeah, the place is in a severe need of a makeover.  Great location, great potential, but lacking atmosphere or anything special about the menu.  Beers are ok, but they have a lot of competition within one mile for beer. It doesn't really seem to know what it wants to be. Destination restaurant? Beer bar? Too may conflicting vibes going on there for me.

They have really missed out. With seafood and steak already covered by restaurants within a mile and several beer bars/bars, they really need to decide wht they want to be known for . Were it me, I would blow out the south wall and add either roll-up or scissor doors to really take advantage of the views. I just did some work in a house that entire walls were panes of glass that slid on rails to completely open up rooms to the outside. Awesome!

I know in Sutter Creek, I love dining at the hotel and sitting right next to the sidewalk when they have the folding iron doors open.  Riverside Cafe has a similar roll-up door setup that opens to a courtyard. If you could open that south wall up to a deck, it would be fantastic for warm summer nights. Doing that would lighten up the somber interior as well. I would go for a light, open, modern look for decor (with a few uniquely Folsom accents) and couple it with a "CA fresh" menu.

But hey, what do I know about such things? I'm just an average Joe...but I do know I would be far more inclined to frequent a place like that....

Great Beer.   Try the Hefeweizen Wheat Beer.   This comes straight out of the vat in Davis and is excellent.    The food is ok but I am a fan because of the location and their Beers.   Wish them success in the future.

I'm loving the made-over Black Stallion on Greenback. The owner and her Bay Area chef brother are doing fun things over there. Sam Hornes is my other favorite for craft beer.

I didn't think the Sudwerk in Davis was connected with this one in Folsom? I thought I had just heard the brewery in Davis was suing this place over the name. If they are one in the same, why would they sue themselves? I believe the brewery and the restaurant were owned by two different people. Maybe since the Davis restaurant is closing its also bringing about the name change here.

Both restaurants in Davis and Sac were owned by the same person, but the brewery had a different owner.  Davis restaurant closed back in June, but brewery is still open.

The place is a dump. It used to be quaint back in the day (10 years ago) when you could get a decent brunch on the deck. Also heard they changed the name back to Cliff House but the owner and staff will remain?

Talk about a bait and switch!

Hate to go way way back, but the original (I think Toshs) was the best.  Casual, friendly, yet very good.

That's a great idea!! Making it an indoor-outdoor space would change the entire atmosphere.

It could become THE place to be in Folsom.

Instead, it's tired, dark and dull.

Didnt that place suffer a pretty bad fire years ago when it was the Cliff House? Sounds like maybe they should have let it burn to the ground and start over. Have never heard anything good about that place other than the view.

Wait what? The place in Orangevale in the corner of that little strip mall where the bartender was murdered years back? Heard that place was a biker/meth haven and haven't stepped foot in there in years,

Yes, that place. You ought to go in and check it out. The new owner did a complete makeover last year. They have a Facebook page too, in case you want to see if there are any craft beers featured on a particular day.

I've been once, no need to return.

I heard that only the name has changed, not the owner.

Whose going to be the guinea pig  :letseat: & check it out?

Correct.  I think they were no longer allowed to use the Brewery's name.  But no change in ownership, so don't expect any changes other than in the beer selection.

I just heard Sudwerks Brewery in Davis is also closed now. Sad, but they've been going downhill for a long time.
