BUT, would we ever move back to AZ? HE!! NO. We love it here in Folsom. There is no comparison.

I agree. I love this town. There are cheaper places to live in the region (Rancho, Elk Grove, Citrus Heights come to mind), cheaper states to live in (Arizona, Louisiana, well, just about all of them), and cheaper countries to live in (Mexico, Afghanistan and even Canada), but I'll take Folsom, California.

Re the AZ vs. CA property taxes, when we moved here in 2005 we were paying about $700 per year in property taxes in AZ (we paid county property taxes, but no city property taxes). As you can imagine, moving here to a house about the same square footage (1300 sq. ft) on a smaller lot we were paying about 6 times as much for property taxes.

BUT, would we ever move back to AZ? HE!! NO. We love it here in Folsom. There is no comparison.

There is no way you should be paying $6,400 in property taxes on a 1,300 square foot home in Folsom unless you have the best view in the entire city. Even then, that is excessive. Why is your house being assessed at $500k+?

rpo,

I said this is what we were paying when we first moved here in 2005 -- remember, houses were at their peak then. Also 6 x 700 is $4200, right? I know we were paying more than that, but you get the idea. We've since moved to a house almost twice the size and we're paying less in property taxes than when we first moved here.

I think I confused your post with KathyP's. Sorry.
