I just saw so many posts and decided there might be something more to the topic and saw that davburr had posted something and decided to read on because I like his posts. (Don't worry ngilbert, I'm still you're #1 fan.)

Fine, pander to the major heavy hitters... some of us down here in the minors have some good stuff left as well.

And granted-I never had a dog bring me a "gift" after hunting in the form of prey--but I have had a dog chase away burglers.
The "shew in the shoe" is a traditional cat gift, indicating the cat loves you. Since they don't have thumbs, it's the closest your cat can get to giftwrapping it for you.
And yeah, be glad dogs and cats are different when it comes to showing their love, or you might find the "gift" of a severed head of a burgler on your porch one morning.
Ah, okay. That explains the bird thing. Your cat probably has already figured he can't count on getting any Christmas gifts from dad this year, so he had to go and find a toy for himself.

Well yeah, that's true. Once he did bring the cheek end of a fellows britches back to me. He almost handed me the evidence of his mighty deed--then with a great emphatic woof and turn of his shaggy head he walked away with his prize. He properly chewed and worried that piece of rag for qiute some time and when he was done he made sure to dispose of his refuse by giving the rag a proper doggie burial. Though I did note that he did not bury it near his pile of snacks.
Afterall, even dogs know the difference between trash and true fortune.
That reminds me--my werewolf has escaped again. Has anyone seen him?
He's tall with medium fair hair and slobbers great droplets of slimy goo on everything he comes near. He also has a serious Freudian fear of not being able to mark enoough places he visits so he is seen marking his territory quite often. If you happen to come across him just offer him a side of beef and call him by his nick name, Snookies. Honest he usually can tell the difference between your arm and the side of beef but should you feel any apprehension I must tell you that a side of beef on a harpoon slung to a stout wooden post is the best way to catch him. Once he has eaten and been given at least a gallon of fine malt beer you should find him quite malleable and willing to follow you back home. No fears, just call the local fire department and have them pick him up. They like him a lot because he is very good at getting the cats out of the trees. ( I just don't like the condition of them afterwards--but hey, beggars can't be choosers.) Now, if only I could figure out what I did with my great axe and sheep shears, last night........

Sorry to hear that, but I'm not too terribly surprised. Werewolves aren't dumb. They'll often wait until Halloween to make their escape. It's the only time of year where they can really blend into the public without being noticed (or if they are noticed it's just people saying "great costume!").
They'll hop on an express train north (check your credit card statement for any unauthorized online ticket purchases), get off the train while still in the US, and then find a place to sneak across the border to Canada, and then onto freedom.
Yes, it sucks that we have no werewolf extradition treaty with Canada. So don't expect any assistance from the authorities up there. Maybe if you can prove ownership, like if you have immunization records, you might be able to find help at the American consulate sneaking the werewolf back as others have, but be careful. They really, really like werewolves in Canada, and consider them a national treasure in some sick twisted way. They even put them on the their coins and stamps. Good luck.
Let this be a lesson to the rest of you. If you are going to keep exotic pets, please have them microchiped.

I know it was just nature in action. I didn't think it was cool, or worth photographing and posting pictures about.

This is an example of sarcasm right? A way of polietly telling someone else you didn't appreciate something they did? I get it.
Maybe if it was your pet (coyote or raccoon) that killed the cat, you found dead on the trail near your home, you would understand the pride that Andrea felt as her cat chewed up on that bird. And the fact that she was actually able to get the photo as the bird gasped it's last breath.
Then on top of that, she wanted to share it with us.
Now that I have explained it... you probably understand her passion better now?

And a great big thank you for your camera phone willpower, Mr. Thedad.
(And I only read this post because I noticed MSgt had a response and some of those in the minors come up with some good stuff, too.)

Authorities found the bodies of two kittens near Hilmo's residence. Bourbonnais said they also found a gruesome image on Hilmo's cell phone: a picture of one of his pit bulls and one of the mauled, dead kittens, and beneath picture a caption that says "Good Dog."

MEADOWS — A rural Meadows family is mourning the loss of a family pet that was killed after two pit bulls broke into the family’s home.
“The dogs saw some cats running and ran around to the back of the house. They pushed open my door and got in the laundry room (on the house’s back porch),” said Gaddy.
One of the family’s cats was in the room and could not escape the dogs.
“It was the oldest cat we had, and it couldn’t defend itself. It just sat there while the dogs mauled it to death,” said Gaddy.
“Everyone was crying. All four of us stayed together all day and just tried to think of something else,” said Gaddy.
