Yeah but it is a fundemental right to have a phone at 8 years old right?!?!?!?

I think kids these days pretty much get whatever they demand.

"But mom, Sally has one!!"

I'm not necessarily for a cell phone for elementary school students but I'm with Chris on this one.

If he has a phone for his kid for a reason, that's his business not yours to ask.

And seriously, I hope someone youtubes laying the smack down on one of these teachers / administrators because some of them have a WAY to 'holier than though high almighty' opinion of themselves and need to be smacked down a couple notches.

I like that!!! smile.gif

Nice. It's appaling that all you thugs are ready to smack down teachers for enforcing the rules when these snot nose kids break the rules multiple times. Unreal. Oh yeah and youtube it as well.

I hope you get to see a youtube video of some kid smacking down your kid because that's exactly what you are supporting.

LOL @ 'thugs'.

Nah I'll stick to the snot nose teachers, principals, coaches, and bus drivers that are tenyored (sp?) and so froth with themselves beyond belief that they don't give a rats arse about anyone's kids and are so nazi-istic that they anoint themselves dictators feeling free to dole out the rules as they see fit (with them MAKING the grey area).

- See the Bus Driver that beat up a special ed kid yesterday in Houston.
- See stories about my High School that I went to in San Jose where a special ed kid committed suicide in a bathroom while I was in class less than 50 feet away because the Coaches were harrasing him.
- See all the stories about principials taking discipline into their own hands literally.

Surely we can blame the kids.

Before we do that let's blame the parents.

Before we do that, aren't the teachers supposed to be helping set the ground work for the kid's lives and also ensure kid's safety and taking them OUT of unsafe situations.

That's right.

It's those damn kids.

*Rolls eyes*

I used to be a 1st/2nd grade teacher. I had a kid bring in his gameboy, which we had a strict policy against. After llike the 10th infraction, I took it away and told him he could have it back in 10 days.
At lunch I went to the office to tell his parent, and couldn't reach her.

Back to the classroom and...gameboy gone. AGHHHHHHH!!!! eek.gif

Guess who had to pay the family back - even though the gameboy was not allowed on campus?!? madsmiley.png

That was a really frustrating experience for me. I know that I was in the wrong for not locking it up (even though I didn't have a locking cabinet in my classroom) but I never would have been in a position to have to do that if his parent would have taken the dang thing away after 9 other infractions.

So parents - please, please - leave the electronics - including cell phones - at home. Show some mercy on the teachers. hypocritesmiley.png

Oh, but back to the original point - I can't imagine why they wouldn't give it back to you. Had this parent come in, I would have handed that gameboy back faster than a tick on a junebug just to avoid the possible liability of losing it!

'holier than though high almighty' opinion of themselves

I remember one teacher, who I actually got along OK with, but one day he did something very dispicable in class. I don't remember how it started, I just remember the girl crying because the teacher had said something along the lines of "if girls die young before losing their virginity, then the worms and maggots get it".

Well, someone paid that teacher back because it was about a week later he was in a tirade over the fact someone smeared peanut butter all over the inside of his convertible.

Exactly. Nothing worse than irresponsible parents.

It's an epidemic these days.
