What a horrific scene you witnessed, Dave. God bless you for stopping and helping...I am sure everyone involved was grateful, esp. the Durango driver as you are an excellent witness. I feel awful for those children! I hope the driver rots in jail for some time. If it's possible for her to be charged with abuse/attempted murder/etc. I think she should. She risked the kids' lives along with God knows how many others she passed on the road last night.

Hey there! was that you I gave my info to? Wish we could've met under better circumstances but my hats off you to you officers for doing a really great job getting there so fast and getting help on the way and the getting the scene contained. You guys and gals have my utmost respect.

Is there any way to find out how the kids and the driver of the durango are doing?

Is the driver of the Mercedes going to be arrested for driving under the influence, reckless driving and child endangerment? There was something seriously wrong with that woman.... I think thats why she was looking for her purse ... maybe trying to hide something?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words, but I'm no hero...the PD and the Medical crew that got there within minutes and took care of everyone are the true heros.. I'm just some guy doing the right thing and helping where I could, it was so incredible to see all the people who pulled over to help, we truly live in a great town, my faith in mankind has been renewed.

you know--there was an accident monday night on E.Bidwell--that closed traffic in one direction for a short amount of time. (don't know how long-but I had driven by there maybe and would say about a 40 minute time frame from no accident to road cleared.

It was from the Jewlery store down to the Raley's parking lot.

Anywhoo--had the kid with me and kid says he saw a copper come out of a "portable metal shed loooking mad and sad".

One) My kids perceptions on people are pretty close to accurate. Two) Portable metal shed? Was the accident that bad? Three) Did anyone else hear about it? Four) Is it possible it was not an accident, maybe a checkpoint?

The first thing I thought of when reading that she was driving that fast and erratically was that perhaps she was trying to get herself and her kids away from an abusive spouse / father. I know of no mother that would intentionally put her kids in danger like that (sure there are scarce instances) so I would rather give her the benefit of the doubt.

If in fact, she was DUI, or something along those lines, by all means throw the book at her.

How tragic. Dave you are part of what makes Folsom a great community. I hope those kids make it okay. They are innocent and helpless, but end up victims of adults' actions.

Glad you are okay davburr and it's great how you helped out. We definitely need more good samaritans in the world. I will definitely keep those kids in my prayers. I hope they are going to be okay.

Ok. "Seems to indicate". I did not say that if she was in fact doing something wrong that it was no big deal. All I said was let's afford her the benefit of the doubt. I do not know how I would react in a horrific crash like that. The minor accidents I have been in were enough to put me in a daze. Everyone wants her drawn and quartered before we even know what the hell happened.

So many people assume the worst. I would rather assume the best (not that there is anything good here) about people. As I said earlier...If in fact she was DUI or something along those lines, throw the book at her.
