Naw, it blows.

Sacramento isn't bad, but it's not my cup of tea, hence why I live in Folsom.
For me the 3 worst areas to live in our state start with LA, then SF, then SD.
I grew up on the outskirts of the bay area and now I live on the outskirts of Sac.
I don't mind being close to a highly populated area, but i don't want to live near the middle of it.
Folsom is perfect. close to the mountains without living in the snow. Almost everything I want or need is right in town, which means almost everyplace I need to go is < 4miles from my house.

Lived in the mountains about (4,000 ft) for two winters that was enough to never want to live there again. It is beautiful but a pain in the snow.

I've said the same, but I would only want to for five or so years. Something about loft style living appeals to me. But deep down inside my ideal place in the area to live would be on some property, anywhere from Cameron Park to Pollock Pines, a little home sitting back off the road with room to roam.

"Wow! What a Ride!"

Couldn't you that and worse about other big cities?

That surprises me, I thought you would rather live in the hills where you could go dirt bike riding right out your backyard everyday, or 4 wheeling, etc. I never would have expected you to be a city slicker type.

While I love Folsom, and like Sac, I'd like to know by what criteria you are judging SF to be among the worst areas in the state.
San Francisco is a beatiful city, with great history, culture, food, music, restaurants, parks, museums and public events nearly every weekend. Like any major city, it's got its problems, but it is a great place to live or visit.
I hope to have a condo or something there some day.
