I do not agree how DLS runs their program.         I was told they recruit athletes from all over the state and compete against public schools which are under strict guidelines.

The DLS student football athlete families get free tuition for the players.      Sounds like a division one college program and out of place for a high school program.

How can a public high school football team compete with a program like DLS?

Does seem rather unfair. They can recruit and get their pick of the best athletes in the state, whereas the public schools can't.

It is exciting to see our home town heroes earning their spot the old-fashioned way; coaching and development.

I would imagine so.  DLS is a private school that openly recruits athletes, and that's fine.  Folsom High's kids are supposed to live within a certain district.  If that's not happening, it would be isolated instances that would probably be found out.  Other teams would want to publicize the fact.

I wouldn't be so sure that it's not happening, even in wholesome Folsom. It is football we are talking about here ya know.

Many of the athletes for both Folsom & Oak Ridge train at my gym in EDH. :)

I really don't know, and don't actually care that much, but if it's happening it will probably come out.

Folsom High has open enrollment. "Space permitting," students from out of the districts may attend. This was a discussion topic while watching the homecoming game this year. The Bulldogs program is a serious football program - this isn't just good ole strong farm boys doing well. That said, Go Bulldogs! We might go to Saturday's game.

Well I didn't assume it was "farm boys", I assumed it was a natural progression from the little-kid football leagues in Folsom, where talent and a winning culture is promoted.  I know nothing about open enrollment, and do not know if space is permitting, or whether football exceptions are made.  Where did all the star players grow up?  Probably right here in town.

I also attribute the success to the "system" that the Folsom High coaches employ.  This just seems to be a "football region" these days, with Oak Ridge and Granite Bay very good as well.  If they weren't so good, I wouldn't have noticed.

Yes, it's pretty much like a college (or JC) team, full of recruits.  That's what would make a victory even sweeter.  No shame in a loss, as long as the game is hard fought, and not the lousy effort we saw last year.  Folsom High may well be the #1 public school in the state.  We also may be looking at a true future NFL star (Jake Browning), which DLS can't match.

Please don't say that about any young athlete.   Let's first see how well they play at the college level.     If the college level play goes well it could be safe to say they have a good chance in the NFL try outs.

No harm intended.  As I said, we MAY be looking at an NFL athlete (OK, maybe not a "star", but we'll see), given his style of play, his physique, and his ranking as the best junior QB in the nation, who will attend a top-tier NCAA school.  Barring injury, he will likely play in the NFL one day.  Just a prediction.

I think the last Northern California team to beat De La Salle was Pittsburg,  back in 1991.  DLS  is not invincible but for them to lose this game Folsom needs needs to control the lines, don't' turn the ball over and make DLS play in their half and keep DLS defense on the field. DLS run game can tire defenses so imperative that Folsom offense stay on field for long drives so we can tire their defense. Time to make history and punch a ticket to Southern California. GO BULLDOGS.

I wouldn't be so sure. "Dano the Mano" washed out of The Air Force Academy and is now a 3rd string QB at Cal Poly.

That's cause the NFL, and therefore the big colleges, pass over (pun intended) anyone who is considered too short to be QB.  Browning is the requisite height.

Meanwhile, I just read an article about the monster De La Salle linemen, who are essentially like a college Division I squad.  I don't see how Folsom can overcome that on either side of the ball, but here's hoping that something good will happen.  (I'd like to see DLS go up against Alabama, to get a taste of the same discrepancy.)

The High School Football game between  the Folsom Bulldogs and De La Salle-Concord will be on TV

tonight.  It will be on Comcast Channel 36 and also on Channel 720 (High Def) at 7:30 PM. The game is being

played at Diablo Valley College.

Don't have Comcast.  Maybe those that do can post scores?

I will try to keep up with it.  The San Jose Sharks game should be over by then. There are behind 2-0 after two periods.  Go Sharks.  Go Bulldogs...

Sharks lost 3-2
