I'll put here what I put in another forum...

There was a distinct lack of fun this year.  Not just the game, but abuse of sentimentality.  Chevy is using cancer patients to sell trucks, Budweiser using veterans to sell beer, Microsoft using amputees to sell software, and (perhaps most ironic) Fiat is draping Bob Dylan the protest singer in the American flag to sell Chryslers.

That really bothered me too. Almost all of the commercials were lame (I was counting on them to keep me awake, you know there is a problem when you are more interested in the commercials than the program itself!) and I was really put off at the "abuse of sentimentality". You summed it all up with those three words.

I never get worked up for the commercials. I did like the Doberuaua one though. I somehow missed the Danica Patrick one, but have seen stills from it.

The Coke commercial featuring Americans of different races singing 'America the Beautiful' apparently made a lot of people, perhaps those who forgot that we're a nation of immigrants, angry.

The half-time shows are never great, but I thought Bruno Mars made the best of his 12 minutes, and it was great to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers still as energized as 30 years ago.

I thought it might not be the biggest or best halftime show ever, but he did seem to really be enjoying it, more than most in past shows.  That made it fun to watch.

Doritos Time Machine - I thought this was so clever and well done.

Radio Shack The 80s Called - My DH and I thought this was so funny. (how many 80s icons did you recognize?) However, our kiddos didn't get it as much. It was a funny spot but if RS was trying to update their image to attract the younger crowd, they might have missed their target audience.

I think the advertisers should have to have a different commercial for each spot they buy.  A good example was the T-mobile Tim Tebow No Contract series of commercials. They all had the same theme/message but each one was unique and entertaining. A bad example, Xfinity Star Trek. If they showed that one more time, I'd never, ever, switch to xfinity, ...ever. And the Verizon Maps - that one isn't even remotely new. Seriously, it's the SuperBowl, put a little effort into it, will ya?

That was one of the best half time shows in years, how can you guys put it down? Bruno Mars did great, his James Brown imitations were awesome!

Geeze you're a tough crowd to please.

Fiat should stick with hot Italian women for their commercials, I bet hardly anyone under 40 even knows who Bob Dylan was.

His parents had a band and he grew up doing James Brown, Michael Jackson and Elvis impersonations.

Bruno Mars performed one of the best half-time shows in years.

The commercials have been getting worse the last few years, although a few were good. Advertisers used to put a lot of effort and creativity into these commercials to get us to watch during football down-time. It has gotten to the point that we watch all commercials in the hopes that they will be good; advertisers know they have our attention anyway -- so why put in so much effort? I don't remember ever seeing so many celebrities in Super Bowl commercials; it seems advertisers have substituted stars for wit.

I don't mind commercials about important topics like cancer, but I think they'd be more effective if they had a call to action instead of just "raising awareness." I'd like to see a jock talk about having had a colonoscopy, doctor finding/removing pre-cancerous polyps, and urging people to go get this life-saving procedure.

I loved the Bud commercial with the puppy and the clydesdale. Too cute.

I didn't pay much attention to the game and only some to the commercials; I was visiting with out of town family most of the time.  I did enjoy the half time show and thought it was better than most lately.  Some of the commercials where just odd.  For the amount of money they paying, I would think the companies would want better.  I too thought the puppy and clydesdale commercial was the best.

Maybe they can get the Red Hot Chili Peppers to come back next year.. Bruno Mars was fantastic and that opening drum solo was awesome.

I'm not into the half time show so this one had no impact on me.  The commercials were not very good, with the exception of the Budweiser puppy commercial AND the Cheerios puppy commercial.  On the other hand, I loved, the Broncos getting their butts handed to them.

Maybe they were trying to get viewers back from the Puppy Bowl
