Also get out to the Folsom Parade, starting at 9:00 AM.

Thousands to Participate in Folsom’s Veterans Day Parade

Thousands of Folsom residents will honor and recognize the nation’s veterans at the 16th annual Wayne Spence Folsom Veterans Day Parade on Friday, November 11.

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the HomeGoods parking lot at 430 Blue Ravine Road and will include nearly 3,000 participants with marching bands, floats, classic cars, riders on horseback, color guard and more.  Local dignitaries and veterans will judge the parade entries from a reviewing stand and award outstanding entries in a number of categories.  Immediately following the parade, a brief ceremony to honor local veterans will be held at the Veterans Memorial in Folsom City Lions Park.

This year’s parade theme is “Honoring Our Flag, United We Stand.” The parade will feature Bob Repar as the grand marshal. Bob is a veteran of both the City of Folsom Police Department and the United States Air Force.

The 1.5-mile parade will commence at 430 Blue Ravine Road and will enter E. Bidwell Street from Montrose Drive.  The parade will travel westbound on E. Bidwell Street, northbound on Coloma Street, and will proceed to Natoma Street. The parade will conclude at the Folsom Community Center at 52 Natoma Street.

The Folsom Police Department will coordinate a temporary closure of all lanes of traffic on E. Bidwell Street from approximately 8 to 11 a.m.  Natoma Street from Coloma to Wales Drive will close from approximately 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.  Closures will be lifted immediately after the parade ends.  Detours around the parade will be marked. Motorists are encouraged to take Riley and School streets as alternate routes.

The parade will be held rain or shine. For more information contact Ted Ocampo at  351-3521 or tocampo@folsom.ca.us.

Started at 9 AM and lasted around two hours. It was good but it was so disjointed this year. I don't think it was as good as the last few years. The kids in the parade were great. I wore my blue Navy sweater and my Navy retired cap. I did't wear my medals this year. I think I shook over 200 hands and looked into the eyes of those children thanking me for the service to our country.

A bunch of great kids that we here in Folsom can be proud of.

Thanks Folsom.

Oh, yes, the jets flew over (FLY OVER) after we got home, but we did see and hear them.

Thanks Camay for your service. Thanks to all vets and current and future people who serve. Freedom is not free. It costs and you people are the ones paying the price. Many suffer with wounds their entire lives and of course those who paid the ultimate price. We owe you all.
Saw the flyover from the Palladio. Was very cool as usual.
