Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Folsom is closing.  Tokyo Sushi was always our go-to.  It was our elderly Japanese friends' favorite too.  Tempura not greasy.  Sushi very good.  Everything nicely done.  Not fancy, but the way it should be.  They sold the business and are retiring after 24 years in business.  We are going to miss them!

NOOOOOOOOO!!!

When you say sold the business does that mean somebody else it taking it over with the same menu?

A new restaurant is coming in.  Not sure if its going to be Japanese or not, but they are stripping everything out and remodeling from scratch.

That was my youngest daughter's favorite. Been there quite a few times with her.

Has the Sushi craze "jumped the shark" ?? Give me a medium rare steak... and a baked potato smothered in butter, sour cream, bacon bits, and chives.

They called themselves Tokyo Sushi, but they were full service family-style Japanese.....bento boxes, sukiyaki, kagetsu, everything.  sushi was just a part of what they did.  we never ate sushi.

I would have thought so, but Blunami and Mikuni seem to be killin' it.

I read recently where it was the number 1 restaurant choice of first-daters.

Probably true.  Women on "getting to know you" dates don't like to eat a lot of food.

Out with the old and in wih the new. Sushi is as popular as ever its just simple supply and demand and probably expected. Tokyo hasnt exactly done anything to come up to the level of the newer restaurants.

I would say with all the burger joints opening in the last 3 or so years will start to see a couple of them go next.

Today is their last day after 24 years in business. Those of you have been around long enough to remember and respect that kind of dedication might stop in and wish them well. We will miss the comfortable atmosphere and wonderful family style cooking. Straightforward and delicious.
