Any updates on this place? The sign is still in the window saying, "coming soon."

I touched base with one of the owners the other day. She said they are still working on some of the equipment configuration.
They unearthed (literally) a bunch of problems with the building when they started working on the plumbing and electrical. It's an old building and they had to do some upgrades.
I've seen the inside, and they are close. It's going to be great.

Not surprising.
Glad to hear they will soon be opening.

What happened to the old La Fiesta chips?
About two months ago, they did away with the old ones and put up that huge dispenser containing ones that have no taste with the texture of cardboard. I did a taste test with my kids and they preferred the cardboard. I've been going to La Rosa Blanca ever since.
Anyone else notice this? I loved their old chips and it was all you can eat.

Gadz, those poor folks, they've been working on that place for it seems well over six months... hope the repairs aren't breaking the bank - that's a rough way to start.
Looking forward to going there when it opens!

If La Fiesta still has their salsa bar, I'll be going, cardboard or not! Love that guacamole salsa, the hot marinated vegetables and the radishes!

Yeah, it's tough. They were supposed to open about a year ago. It's been one thing after another, but they are determined.
It will be a great addition to Sutter.

Yes! I think La Fiesta might be under new ownership, because I've seen several new faces there recently.

Is there still any chance that this place will open? I don't know what happened after January. Sure looking forward to authentic Mexican food.

Just checking to see if there's any news. When I look at their Facebook page (last update was 6 months ago), the interior looked 100% ready to go. Given that they made it that far, then stopped cold, have to think something really bad happened. I'm not sure if that's just how the restaurant industry goes, or if it's an issue with the City, or what. Anyway, if or when they do open, I'm going to be first in line. Crossing fingers.

The Taqueria isn't going to happen. The owner has some medical issues and they have abandoned the effort. The juice shop that is beneath the Sutter St Steak house will move into that location now.
Oh and the hacienda guys are now focusing on making that a nightclub to compete with Power House. Supposed to open in mid-late March. Good times.

The owner asked me to respond. The rumors are untrue. PG&E was out their doing their final work yesterday.
Health inspector goes out next week.
With all of the challenges they've had, they no longer give dates, but if all goes well, they'll do a soft opening, then grand opening 30 days later.

Interesting. My info came from someone who said it was the owners wife that relayed this information. Weird how there could be such a disconnect in the stories. I guess we'll see one day if they do indeed open which a lot of people are hoping for!
