Who Wins, Who Loses With Senate Health Care Bill

http://www.npr.org/s...ealth-care-bill

Adults under 65 - Medicaid would be cut starting in 2021.

Low-income nursing home residents - Medicaid coverage for long-term care could be cut

People with preexisting medical conditions - let states ask permission to reduce required coverage

People with disabilities - The cuts would be larger than those in the House bill.

People who use mental health services - Medicaid would not be required to cover mental health after 2019. And requirements could change in states that request a waiver.

Working poor on Medicaid - Federal funding for Medicaid expansion phases out between 2021-2023

The wealthy - would repeal ACA taxes on corporations and the wealthy that pay for insurance subsidies.

You sure are generous with other people's money... There is no "right" to healthcare. There is no magic money tree to pay for all the "unfortunates" out there. Truly needy should have some sort of safety net, but unfortunately, those that can take care of themselves but don't and expect me to pick up the tab I have no sympathy for. I know many people who are living way beyond their means with no plans for retirement income. They buy new cars, live in more house than they can afford, go on trips and have lots of toys. Why on Earth should I be expected to pay for their healthcare as they age simply because I denied myself a life of excess so I would be able to support myself later?  Who is stealing from whom?

Biggest losers? Those claiming reps are killing thousands with "blood money" for the rich.  Whose crappy, failing system are they trying to fix/save again? Oh yeah, the one fully owned, 100% by the Dems. They built it to fail, and now that it is they are blaming the Reps? #falselogic #epicfail

A couple comments:

1)  Has anyone noticed how the Senate healthcare bill implements many, if not most, of their bill's provisions starting in 2021?  A year after the next presidential election?  Profiles in political courage?  Hardly.  Why not implement it now?  Oh, wait!  If they do it now, many of those Trump voters will lose their healthcare by 2020 election and may not be quite so willing to vote GOP.

2)  But some of the tax cuts proposed are retroactive and will take effect on Jan 1, 2017.  Anyone who sold stock starting on Jan. 1st will get back a 3.8% Medicaid (or Medicare - don't remember which) surtax on the capital gains of that transaction.  Political pandering?   It's what politicians do best.

3)  There is no doubt in my mind that some form of this bill will be passed and signed fairly quickly, so be ready.

4)  Just an observation - Dems (mostly those who have a tenuous economic reality) take to the streets when things don't go their way.  Sometimes these situations include violence (not good but it happens).  The GOP doesn't respond with violence, but takes a sort of revenge on these Dems by making their lives even more economically tenuous.  Eliminating their healthcare is part of it.  It's a vicious circle from which there is no escape.   sadly, people who actually need a safety net get caught in the crossfire.

Hey Dems, read the above quote from Joe again. Rinse. Repeat. Read it until you have it memorized because it is the truth. Or do you people even acknowledge the truth these days? #brainwashedidiots

We saw how government healthcare worked in 2014 with the VA scandal.  Obama had 2 YEARS to do something...nothing was done. Hate him all you want, but at least Trump has signed into law a Bill making it easier to fire VA workers.  Chalk one up for Trump.  Now if it could only apply to ALL federal, state and county employees.

The latest VA disgrace...

And who were the biggest losers under Obamacare? We the people...  Some "achievement" for you progressives... :P

Just searched the Senate Healthcare bill for these terms:

-  cost control

-  cost reduction

-  cost management

-  competitive bid

-  cost discipline

-  price reduction

-  price management

-  price control

Guess what?  None of these terms appear in the bill.

For whatever reasons (the power of lobbyists?), no one is acknowledging the 8000lb elephant in the room.  Medicare is prevented by law from negotiating drug prices with the pharmaceutical companies.  EVERY other government contract goes thru a competitive bidding process to get the best prices.  Why not this one?  Every other country in the world negotiates drug prices with the suppliers.  It's why drugs are so much cheaper in Canada, Europe, Asia, etc.

So,  thanks to the greed of big Pharma, and the willingness of Congress to go along with it, the American public is getting screwed big time.  And the result is a lot of Americans are given a demoralizing choice - Suffer either economically or suffer medically.  Take your pick.

Maybe I should write an article and shop it out to see if anyone is willing to publish it.   Probably not, because many of the business magazines I've dealt with get significant advertising from big pharma.  They won't jeopardize that revenue stream.  And you won't hear anything from main stream media either.  Watch the 5:30 news.  75% of the ads are for pharmaceuticals.  Main stream media won't jeopardize the revenue either.   The only publications willing to tackle this are AARP and Consumer Reports.  Notice there are no drug ads in AARP publications.  Big pharma hates them.  And Consumer Reports doesn't accept advertising $$$ from anyone to remain unbiased.

Big pharma has everyone by the balls - congress, Medicare, the media, and American citizens.  And most have no clue.

Yawn! :deadhorse:

That was ONE story about Anthony Scaramucci  - - one out of dozens that have been confirmed.

Talk about willful self-delusion . . . :summerteeth:     :pumpkin:

I wouldn't break out the champagne bottles just yet, at least not until the other 99 stories and the Mueller investigation play out.

So far the Reps have done ZERO to healthcare. The skyrocketing rates, insurers leaving states and death spiral of healthcare for MILLIONS is owned 100% by the Dems and that abomination they called Obamacare. Who are the "mean" ones again?

And for the love of God Vin, when you drink the kool-aid, at least understand the math. Medicare is not "getting cut."  Getting cut when you are in government only means your INCREASES in spending will be moderated somewhat.

Today, Federal Medicaid spending is $389 billion. Under GOP reforms,it will increase to about $500 billion in 2027.

That from a program that spent 19 billion in 1983. So it will have gone up 2600% in 44 years  Under the current Obama plan, it will go up 3290% in 44 years.

An increase of 111 BILLION dollars over 10 years is HARDLY A CUT!

SInce 83, inflation has risen 240%. Medicare spending has risen 2000% percent.  I think  we SHOULD rein in the spending!
