So, as far as games are concerned it was one of the most fun to watch. Two great teams which matched up better than I'd expected. A couple of Cinderella Stories:
Chris Matthews, un-drafted out of college. Played in the CFL. Was working at Foot Locker when the Seahawks called. Had his very first NFL catch in the Superbowl, ending the game with 4 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. He was the Seahawks' leading receiver on the day.
Then there was Malcolm Butler of the Patriots, and un-drafted rookie who had just given up a 33 yard catch and was determined to make it up. Recognizing a Seahawks play he'd been burned on by the practice squad, he stepped up and made the game-saving interception for the Patriots.
It was a blunderous call anyway, with Marshawn Lynch in the backfield and New England unable to stop him throughout the game.
As for commercials, mostly forgettable. Nothing really stood out. Maybe the Brady Bunch Snickers one.
Now, about that half-time show. I read several reports calling it one of the best ever, and that Katy Perry 'blew them away'.
I thought it was one of the worst ever! She is terrible! It was great if you are 11 years old. I imagine Lenny Kravitz took the gig because 100 million people were watching. Missy Elliott, who hasn't had a hit in years and who had stopped performing due to Graves disease, was actually the most fun part of that segment.
Other than that, I have no opinion whatsoever.
PS. I was happy to see Richard Sherman, who is a great player but a big trash-talker, practically crying when he witnessed that interception!
