All normal people know that the only *crazy* in our society are Democrats. Need an example? OK fine, see below. I have thousands of these in my "Democrats are Stupid" file, and I will be releasing them here, one by one, so stay tuned !! It's gonna be fun !

March 28th - Crazy Report -

Today Trump signed an executive order that rolls back EPA regulations for a large number of industries.  When signing, Trump made specific reference to "bringing back" coal and coal miners' jobs.  IMO, going back 50 or 100 years is not the solution.  It's crazy.

OK, so I had a couple glasses of wine with dinner tonight and decided to put on the silly hat and develop a fun little graphic that illustrates the folly of resurrecting jobs from the past.  take a look:

Yes.....!   Roll back that EPA.....!   Thank God....!   Bunch of environmental whackos who's only job, only "product" is regulation that stifles businesses, growth, jobs, kills whole industries, and infringes "biggly" on private property rights.....!   And they accept the mere hypothesis of man made global warming as gospel....!   Morons....!

The only thing crazy here is the EPA creating law through their constant writing or regulations.  Not their job, that is the job of Congress......!

Oh,and another EPA loss......   Good riddance Mustafa....!

How may people will Trump kill due to rollback of environmental protections, repeal of Obamacare (43,000 a year), unnecessary wars, denial of climate change?

I think the world has more to worry about leftists, socialists, communists trying to kill you.   Don't you think so too Uncle Vinny....?

Stalin killed 60 million people...

Mao killed 50 million people...

Hitler killed at least 12 million people...

Pol Pot killed maybe 3 million people...

Castro killed tens of thousands at least.....

The left, the socialists, the communists are way better at killing people Vinny....    Maybe you should look in the mirror and be afraid.....?   Chris

March 30 - Crazy Report

Last week, the president signed an order to alter or eliminate environmental regulations and specifically mentioned how it will revive the coal industry and put coal miners back to work.  Later, he chastised the wind power industry as "...funny things spinning around in the farm fields.  Who wants that?".

So, let's look at some facts:

1) The coal mining industry employs about 66,000 workers (2016).  Even with removal of regulations, the industry expects employment to decline about 3% per year thru 2020 (because of automation).

2) The wind power industry currently employs about 102,000 workers (2016).  The industry is forecasting employment growth of 25% per year thru 2020.  Growth of 147,000 jobs over 4 years.

3) Yet, the administration is promoting coal jobs and chastising wind power jobs.  They are promoting the past and sacrificing the future. Crazy?

4) Why not retrain the coal miners to be wind power technicians?  It's the fastest growing job classification in the country right now.  If nothing else, they'll get to work where the sun shines.

5) Trump's message to coal miners - "We want you to go down that hole (where the sun doesn't shine) and get back to digging coal again.  Oh, and we want you to do it while congress figures a way to take your healthcare."

6) For some reason, they voted for him.  Crazy?

Recent news report show that Russia is paying folks to spread false news, to claim that real news is "Fake News" and spreading lies to undermine our faith in our country.

Why, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those paid traitors are right here in our midst! Ha, ha!

Who do, Wind power is worthless. It doesn't exist without massive subsidies. It requires redundant power generation. It has FAILED in nearly every venue it has been promoted. Ask Australians how they like their wind power experiment. Ask Spain. Ask England. A rather long but informative read here: http://scienceandpub...006_lecture.pdf

South Australians are getting ready to clean house on green politicians and their schemes that have totally screwed up their power supply.   http://www.theaustra...59bfb343c1d370a

Lol. What do you think America has been doing all over the world for decades? Ever studied our interventions in S America? The middle east? Europe?  You do realize we have  directly propped up or removed dozens of heads of state right?

Joe - some quick comments -

1)  The author of the UK article you showed was authored by a fellow who has had close ties to the UK coal industry for a long time.  That he blasts wind power (along with other renewable power sources) is no surprise.  I wouldn't consider his views unbiased.

2)  Yes, several countries are struggling with the addition of renewable power to their electrical grids.  It appears the existing grid management systems were never designed to deal with the power gyrations that can occur from renewable sources.  I'm no expert on this, but it sounds like a technical problem.  And some sharp engineers will sort it out over time.  A neighbor works for SMUD and he has talked about the problems they have managing the grid because a large part is their generating capacity is renewable.  I think he told me 25%.  He said they're making progress.  I read few months back that SMUD is out in front of everyone regarding renewables and is teaching others how to do it.  Maybe Germany, Australia, and UK should call SMUD.

3)  I read an article last year about how successful Norway has been with renewable sources.  Apparently 90% of their power comes from renewables, and they are managing it quite well.  Well enough to be buying/selling power from/to Denmark, the Netherlands, and Scotland.  When one has a surplus, they sell it to the others.  When one has a shortage, they buy it from the others.  In other words, they've created a market for renewable energy.  Clever.

4)  I challenge your characterization of wind power as "worthless".  To wit - Nearly 52,000 wind turbines are operating in the USA.  They generated 225 Tera-watt hours (225,000,000,000 kWH) in 2016.  The wind power industry employed 102,000 people in 2016.  Iowa, of all places, got 27.4% of its electricity from wind turbines in 2016.  They lead the nation in this statistic.  IMO, wind power is anything but "worthless".

Okay, I will concede. It is not "worthless." It is worth far  less than the cost of it. At about double the cost of traditional sources, it is no bargain (as the article made clear). I have no issue with pointing out the potential biases of an article, BUT if you do so, I would like to see refutation of the claims, not just dismissal.

SMUD is great. If they want to promote renewables AND you want to pay for them, go right ahead and pay double your bill. SmUD used to have a voluntary green energy fee (now it is wrapped up in every bill). I paid into it for years because, in general, I thought "green" energy was a plus. Until I did the research. In CA, the greenest of energy (hydro) is not counted towards our quota for renewables. That is a political move designed to funnel money into less efficient and more costly wind and solar. If you want to talk about INDIVIDUAL usage of solar, I am all for that. Government mandates I am against.  In fact, when I build my retirement home several years from now, one of the primary desin features will be to be as independent as possible for water, and electric. Depending on the final location, laws and climate (I have a few locations with varying climate to pick from), I will go with a micro hydro unit or solar with battery and generator backup. No, I will not be in the city limits...

Joe,  just did a quick look at electricity costs of wind vs traditional.  these are the numbers I found:

Energy Source                      Cost/kWH

Unsubsidized wind                $0.032 to $0.077 per kWH (depending on geographic location)

SMUD                                   $0.12 per kWH  (no longer tiered)

PG&E                                    $0.20 to $0.40 per kWH  (depending on tier)

I'm suspicious of the wind numbers and will take a better look later tonite.  It's out to dinner right now.  Sutter St Steakhouse! :)

In 2013, energy sources and percent share of total electricity generation were:

Coal 39%
Natural Gas 27%
Nuclear 19%
Hydropower 7%
Other Renewable 6% [total]
Biomass 1.48%
Geothermal 0.41%
Solar 0.23%
Wind 4.13%
Petroleum 1%
Other Gases < 1%

But then again you won't see this Who_Do because you "ignore" anyone who can counter your so called liberal, progressive "facts".....    Carry on in your self protective, liberal bubble, your safe zone, where no facts can appear unless you approve them.....!   Chris
