Financial Maturity....A lost art. If ya can't afford it, don't buy it. Learn how to admit to yourself "I can't afford this". Oh, I forgot, we're in a "I-need-it-now-I'll-figure-out-how-to-pay-for-it-later" society. Sorry. My mistake.

From the sound of respondants to this thread, it's not entirely lost.

I think it's all great advise! Thank you so much for contributing! Resume Lady, I loved your day to day savings plan. I do do all my shopping at Raley's and was just thinking that there must be a better way to shop and well maybe it's just shopping someplace else!

Like a new car? Yeah, shelling out a ton of money on something that depreciates 25% right off the bat sounds like some good advice...

no need to bust out the crayola's dude - just show us a picture of the 30-50 grand pile of cash that you used to buy it since you say using credit is all about short sighted instant gratification laugh.gif

Uh-oh, I detect a little envy just because someone can afford to buy a new car. Wow, are you tellin' me you folks couldn't buy a new car if all of a sudden you had to?? You couldn't come up with 30K?? 30K is not alot of money, folks. It's not...unless you have mismanaged your finances. No offense.

Why in the world would anyone ever 'have to' spend 30k on a new car? And even if you could 'afford' it, why in the world would you want to? Do you enjoy peeing your money away? For someone preaching financial responsibility, that sure sounds a bit ridiculous.

But no need to answer - you are obviously in a different financial stratosphere than the rest of us po' folks.

Why would I want to spend $30k on a car? IMO, it's a poor use of the money I have, even though I technically could do it.

hahaha it's just hard to believe you paid 100% cash for a brand new car.

Lets hear from folks - how many of you out there have 40-60 grand in cash sitting around available to purchase a car or boat if you suddenly wanted to?

I'll admit, I couldn't do it because all my cash like that is tied up in a couple properties, 401k's and numerous other savings.... so if you're doing that well Chip, good on you (but for some strange reason, my BS detector is going off.... tongue.gif )

Maybe I am, but that's no reason to blast someone for their choice. I love the goo-goo mentality of "I know what's best for you". You guys crack me up. We all make choices. You act as if that money is gone, whereas I realize it's an asset and has value. Do you get it? The next time your car gives you trouble, you'll all think "maybe ChipShot is right...I want a new, decent car for a change". Just my guess...I suppose I could be wrong, but I doubt it !! tongue.gif
