I have an extra UHF outdoor antenna that I should put on the classified area.

Did it a few years ago.
I run a Roku unit on every TV we have (they have them at Costco now) and we also have a very nice OTA HD antennae that works great (got it at best buy), it's amazing how many free channels there are out there.
For sports we use either the local channels or online at firstrowsports.tv
the only thing we miss without cable is that big bill every month
Hey, Dave,
Which brand of OTA HD atnenna did you get?
Also, when you watch sports that aren't on local channels using firstrowsports, how do you get that on your tv? Sorry if this is an ignorant questions -- this is all new to us (we have an Amazon Firestock on the way).

Yes, we ditched the Comcast cable in November. We decided against any of the devices discussed on the other thread mentioned and have just gone without tv. I don't miss it one bit. DH needed to get his football fix elsewhere (like friends' houses and the place that used to be Po' Boys [can't remember the new name right now]), but no big deal now that the season is over.
EDIT: Oops. Just realized I'm replying to a 4-year-old thread! There is a newer thread that discussed alternatives; that is the one to which I was referring.

I posted to this older thread because I was looking for Dave's post about the use of an antenna, not discussed in the newer thread.

I'm out of town right now but I got the OTA HD antenna at Costco.
Sports are a downside, unless it's on basic channels, we don't get the games.
It would be great to see a hulu like site for live sports watching. There are a few illegal sites (I watched a superbowl game one time while on a flight via the plane's wifi service) but most of those sites have been shutdown so I don't know if any still exist.

Ah, thanks for the info, and safe travels.
