GOP fears Congress will actually do its oversight job after ‘blue wave’

https://shareblue.co...ss-investigate/

A leaked memo shows Republicans are afraid that if Democrats take over the House of Representatives, Congress will actually reassert itself as a coequal branch of government.

A new memo circulating in GOP circles shows Republicans are “getting ready for hell” if Democrats take control of the House of Representatives.

Congressional Republicans are getting ready for hell. Axios has obtained a spreadsheet that's circulated through Republican circles on and off Capitol Hill — including at least one leadership office — that meticulously previews the investigations Democrats will likely launch if (when) they flip the House.

Scoop: Republicans secretly study their coming hell

https://www.axios.co...6da123c584.html

Here are some of the probes it predicts:

  • President Trump’s tax returns
  • Trump family businesses — and whether they comply with the Constitution's emoluments clause, including the Chinese trademark grant to the Trump Organization
  • Trump's dealings with Russia, including the president's preparation for his meeting with Vladimir Putin
  • The payment to Stephanie Clifford — a.k.a. Stormy Daniels
  • James Comey's firing
  • Trump's firing of U.S. attorneys
  • Trump's proposed transgender ban for the military
  • Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's business dealings
  • White House staff's personal email use
  • Cabinet secretary travel, office expenses, and other misused perks
  • Discussion of classified information at Mar-a-Lago
  • Jared Kushner's ethics law compliance
  • Dismissal of members of the EPA board of scientific counselors
  • The travel ban
  • Family separation policy
  • Hurricane response in Puerto Rico
  • Election security and hacking attempts
  • White House security clearances

Trump refuses to honor John McCain's service

(He finally relents after massive pressure from veterans groups.

Sad that the Bruce Ohr thing was behind closed doors.....?   They work for us don't they?  There is no need to hide the truth....!   When the truth comes out it will be Hillary and her minions in jail and not Trump.  A deep state witch hunt will come to an end in 2 years........   It will take that long to cut through the resistance of big government and the deep state and the idiot liberal prosecutors in New York.  Hopefully a real investigative journalist (with a good life insurance policy) will take this story on and run to the end with it.  Chris

Trump floats a theory the Democrats made up the high death toll in Puerto Rico.   :CRAZYLOCO:

Total silence from the Republicans!               :loco:           :KOOLAID:             :newyear:

What we have here is Nursery School President.

But the adults are defaulting on their roles as checks against insanity!

Trump continued to cast doubt on the final death toll from Hurricane Maria on Friday, and mischaracterized an academic study that estimated 3,000 deaths in Puerto Rico in the months after the storm.

It's all coming to a head now.

All the pieces are falling into place.

Key players have flipped, and now Mueller has agreed to accept written answers from Trump.

Trump cultists had better get their Get-Out-Of-Dodge plans together.

The plot to subvert the US presidential election: Unraveling the Russia story so far

For many Americans, the Trump-Russia story as it has been voluminously reported over the past two years is a confusing tangle of unfamiliar names and cyberjargon, further obscured by the shout-fest of partisan politics.

https://indianexpres...a-story-so-far/

The Kremlin, it appeared, had reached onto US soil in New York and Washington. The banners may well have been intended as visual victory laps for the most effective foreign interference in an American election in history.

For many Americans, the Trump-Russia story as it has been voluminously reported over the past two years is a confusing tangle of unfamiliar names and cyberjargon, further obscured by the shout-fest of partisan politics. What Robert Mueller, the special counsel in charge of the investigation, may know or may yet discover is still uncertain. President Trump’s Twitter outbursts that it is all a “hoax” and a “witch hunt,” in the face of a mountain of evidence to the contrary, have taken a toll on public comprehension.

Trump, shredding the Constitution....?   I really love that one....!   After 8 years of Obummer you pull this out of your hat....?   The irony of you (a far left liberal) posting this is the most funny part...!   Of course you did not mean it that way I am sure...   But glad you showed up again after Kavanaugh was confirmed on the SCOTUS.   Looks like that pesky Constitution that you leftists want to do away with, rewrite it for yourselves and not all Americans, will be safe for a few decades more.  Chris

The World stands aghast as Saudi prince tortures and murders Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Trump response:
He jokes about body slamming a reporter in his support of Repugnican Greg Gianforte.       :CRAZYLOCO:

Whoa, get some class there, man!           :loco:

Trump jokes about congressman assaulting reporter:
'Any guy who can do a body slam ... he's my guy'      :summerteeth:

https://www.cnn.com/...-guy/index.html

The comment comes at the same time as the administration responds to the disappearance and apparent murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Whoops! Backfired!        :loco:                               :gah:

Trump's Rising Debts Will Soon Force the U.S. To Spend More on Interest Than Medicaid, Defense

https://www.newsweek...LApQ6rKfl2dgAX0

By 2020, the government is on track to spend more on interest than it spends on Medicaid,
and by 2023, more than on national defense,
and by 2025, the government will spend
more on debt interest than every nondefense discretionary federal program combined.

Trump is stealing from our children to pay to the top 1%    !!         :beehive:         :noyoudint:

This is not a Trump issue...this is a CONGRESS issue. Spending plans are formed in the House and approved by the Senate. The President actually has very little to do with spending.  Pols ON BOTH SIDES of the aisle have little incentive to reign in their spending.  Hell, look what happened to the Tea Party whose PRIMARY goal was to reduce government spending. The Dems called them crazy, heartless, nazis and the Reps tore them down for threatening their power base.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive" -- C.S. Lewis

If the only way to combat "global warming" was to lower taxes, we would never hear of the issue again. - Anonymous
