In the 80's, I went to a LOT of MLB games. Mostly Angels and Dodgers as I lived in SoCal. After the player strikes in 85, 90 and 94, I finally had enough and said screw MLB. I stopped going to games and stopped watching on tv (although I still go to Rivercat games).  What started as a protest turned into a habit.  Finally, after 20 years, I returned to Oakland to watch the A's play on Saturday.  I was treated to an 8 run 5th inning, and a few plays that made the day for me (including the one linked below).  Despite the horrific drive, I was reminded again how much fun could be had at the ol ball park. I guess I'm back ...until the next player strike anyway.

I still think baseball is the best game, but I hate the constant trading that occurs now. When I was a kid, the same players were on the team year after year, and lot of them came up through the farm team. Now it seems like there's constantly new faces...

I was at that game too. And I'll tell you what, even though I rarely watch baseball on TV going to a game, ESPECIALLY a day game in good weather, is a real treat. By the way, try taking the train. My son and I actually took a train from Folsom directly to the Coliseum, light rail to Amtrak, which drops you off right at the park.

I love going to games. Haven't been to a Giants game yet this year, but a few Rivercats. I love the game on TV or in person.

BTW, that was a great play!

As a life time fan of the A's, thanks to my dad, I enjoy that I can take my family of 5 to a ballgame that is affordable.  Add to the fact they are playing so well.  My husband is more of a Giants fan, but will go see the A's anytime.  We have only been to two A's games this season, and we paid just a fraction for both games what it cost us to go to one Giants game.

Joe, I do love my Giants games, especially in the new park but I must say I almost enjoy the River Cats a little more now a days.  Not a far drive, my wallet keeps a little green in it,  a great little park, family orientated, every seat is a good seat, and those guys play great AAA ball trying to get to the majors....!   Chris

Same here.  Last week I went to my first baseball game since the early 90s and stopped going after the strike where Matt Williams was on pace to break Roger Maris's record.   I won free tickets to the Pirates/Giants game last Tuesday from our insurance agent (Terry McNeil).    First time at AT&T park.  Very nice seats at a very nice park.    The seats even had cup holders!

Unfortunately the Giants didn't win that game but we had some excitement in the bottom of the 9th as the Giants tried to mount a comeback.

Before the strike I was a big baseball fan - one year I went to the home openers for both the Giants and A's.
