Not really on-topic but... every time I drive or especially ride past that Granite Bay rock in the middle of Folsom Road, I wonder who will be the first person to perish horribly by hitting it at 70 per. It seems to hang out over the median, and the edge is the sort of thing you target-fixate on when on a bike...

Darth, I think the same thing every time I go past it. Someone may do it on purpose too, if things continue to get worse off. Insurance Policy...

I've only driven by the rock a few times but I do recall it seems close to the road.

Thanks!
it's a giant boulder about the size of a car sitting in the median of Folsom-Auburn blvd just pass Dam Road - you can't miss it, it has the words Granite Bay carved in it.

They call that the "moth effect."
I'm with Andrea V. If that rock stops a drunk driver from crossing over into oncoming traffic, it might be a good thing.

How long has it been there? I'm not sure I remember seeing it. I can't find it on Google maps and I've been scrolling the satellite & street images and can't find it. I realize these are older so I'm not sure if it is in them yet.

The new curbs they put in are guided.
You gotta be an idiot --or blind--to run into it.
Funny thing though--the welcome to Granite Bay sign used to be much further down--by the San Juan Water ---intersection.
Did Folsom cede land to Granite Bay?
