Some recent articles in the SBJ about Folsom:

1.  Lieftime fitness is now taking memberships they are on the hill above Green Acres/Costco

2.  Mraz pulled out of the brewery plaza (folsom/Parkshore).  This one is interesting in that a couple weeks before the announcement I noticed they were just replacing the facade (makeup on a pig) when I thought they were actually going to do some major rehab of the old strip mall.  Don't know if the 2 are connected (Mraz just stated that it was not the right time for them now).

3.  Sprouts will open in early 2017.

4.  I also noticed signs for a new restaurant opening soon across from Marley and Moo (which by the way is much improved over the previous restaurant that was there)

It appears that Red Rocket Auto is closed.  They have been removing equipment there the last several business days.

It's amazing how often we hear a new business coming soon announcement and then it's either substantially delayed or never opens or it opens and then closes shortly after. I've learned to really check my expectations when I hear that something new and exciting is coming.

Think about how long they worked on Red Rocket Auto, then to just shut down a year later like that. Wow.

That location is awful. It's too hard to get in and out of. Plus that's the only business on that corner so you really need to make an effort to get there and that converted, rotting firehouse doesn't really scream "get your car fixed here!"

Watching my niece and nephew open a business in Davis, it is amazing what regulations can do to an opening schedule.  When you get close to opening, one small failure, one week to fix it, and one week before the inspector can make it back out.  That doesn't have to happen much and an opening gets pushed back two months.

I don't mean this to be political, but large business love regulation.  It is used as a weapon against small mom and pop shops.  The Wells Fargo's of the world can afford to work their way through thousands of pages of constantly changing rules and regulations, but the small businesses are in a constant struggle to keep up with the same.

Look at any Small business in the City of Sacramento, they are always 3-9 months late and they always cite the issues with getting city approvals.

There can be all sorts of problems, from building inspections, permits, variances, discoveries, and in some cases citizen complaints.

I believe both Marly and Moo, as well as Citizen Vine were delayed because neighbors complained about establishments selling alcohol.

Has anyone gone for a tour at Lifetime Fitness?

I've been trying to get a tour appointment, but the contact is a little flaky. Still waiting.

I've been reading online reviews, and it's kind a interesting....seems like there are lots of problems.

I was actually hoping that there would be a huge exodus from Cal Fit, and then i could get a limited & cheaper membership at CF for the winter.

I joined last week. It is $119 per month. They have executive locker rooms, towel service and the best part is it is 1.2 miles from my house! :)

Is that just for you? I called when the Roseville location opened and it was about that but if you added your wife it was another $80 and THEN it was about another $60 PER kid. Over $300 a month for a family membership at a club is outrageous.

Congrats!

I was never able to coordinate an appointment. Guess I will call directly, although I bet the introductory price will be over by then.

I read that the old Yeager's bldg is going to be converted to a bar and "Escape Room" business. They will have 5 rooms that you need to solve puzzles to be able to escape from the room. There is one of these in Sac but I haven't been yet but it's a fun team builder type of event.

It's about time that space was finally used, it's too good of a location to be vacant for so long!

Great news about an escape room location. I have been to Escape Sacramento and it was awesome. I rented out a room for just my family and it was wonderful bonding time - especially all of the laughs we had afterwards while talking about the experience. I'd for sure go to one in Folsom if we had one. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been a member @ Lifetime in Roseville since they first opened.
Resort-like full-service athletic club, a lot of amenities.
The facilities are clean, the equipment is well maintained, staff are almost always friendly, professional, and willing to help.

It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
