really?  I hadn't heard anything about that.  restaurants usually have a long prep time before they open so people know about them well in advance.

There was an article in The Folsom Telegraph about this new restaurant.  It's called Fleur De Lis Bar & Restaurant.  It's French-Persian cuisine.

They have pomegranate jalapeno margaritas, over-fired oysters for appetizers, and a weekend brunch with things like lamb Benedict and blueberry oat pancakes.

Anyone tried it yet?

haven't tried it, but I have heard from a neighboring merchant that its not French at all.  More Persian and Californian and this and that.  They were hiring bouncers this last week, so they plan on having music apparently, so a little nightclub action too.

the Lebanese place next door is very good!

I can't remember.  its sort of an acronym.  like AK8 or something.  I'll check.  I think I posted a thread about it last week.  Its where the Japanese restaurant used to be on the corner.  its just opened within the last three weeks and its great!  and cheap!!

Old Zin Grill is now Fleur de Lis.

Both are good :)

I've been to Fleur de Lis. I want them to succeed because I know they put a lot of effort (and money) into the place, they are nice people, and the food was good.

Having said that, I arrived at just after 4pm, when they open. The server said we couldn't order any food because the chef hadn't arrived yet. He showed up a little while later and we had some apps on the patio. Good stuff.

A friend went for lunch on a Tuesday, and said that of 8 items on the lunch menu, they were out of 3, saying that they get their food shipments Tuesday afternoon.

I would think they could work around that to provide food to their customers.

I am told the patio gets packed on Thursday evenings when they have live music.

Been there several times (Fleur de Lis)

Atmosphere: A (most of the time **)

Food is a: C+/B **

Service is: B *

*  The service was good but not pop-out-great, certainly acceptable though.

** Over easy eggs almost did not run and another time the Eggs Benedict did not bleed.  Sending out incorrectly good eggs is a sign that the kitchen doesn't care.  It takes 90 seconds to re-fire eggs and they cost 20 cents each.  There were other problems that are easily overlooked but as a whole they don't present well.

** One Sunday the owners family was camped out on the patio for an extend period of time.  They had obviously been there a while before we arrived and were still there as we were leaving.  They were ordering food and drinks, i.e. using the resources of the restaurant and they had their poodle with them.  A matriarchal figure would busily come and go from the table into the restaurant.  Our server, whom we had several times before, was visibly shaken to the point where I called him on the fact that the owners were there using up resources and asked him if they were giving the employees a hard time.  He confirmed that the situation was very intense.  On the way out the matriarchal figure followed us out nervously asking us if everything was o.k.

I too want them to succeed as I like the idea of the place and they have  great potential.  Most of the wait staff seems genuinely motivated, courteous and professional but I think the owners might be squeezing the staff a little to hard.   They have to just have to step it up a couple of notches.

Nice people, but I'm sad to say my prediction is that Fleur de Lis will not succeed. The menu is all over the map, with many of the entrees very mediocre. The night we were there, service was comically bad, with a waiter who repeatedly asked us the same questions, brought chicken pasta to a guest who had told him she was vegetarian, and berated us for not ordering dessert. ("You're probably going right over to Snooks, I know you probably are...") Uh... okay.

They should trim down their menu to whatever they do best, whether that is Middle eastern specialties, French food, or whatever. And hire staff who have some short term memory and don't harangue the guests.
