My wife and I usually go to the Veterans Day Parade and we plan

on going again on the 11th. It is always a great parade.

Thousands to Participate in Folsom’s Veterans Day Parade

Thousands of Folsom residents will honor and recognize the nation’s veterans at the 15th annual Wayne Spence Folsom Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday, Nov. 11.   The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Target parking lot at 430 Blue Ravine Road and will include nearly 3,000 participants with marching bands, floats, classic cars, riders on horseback, color guards and more.

Local dignitaries and veterans will judge the parade entries from a reviewing stand and award standout entries in a number of categories.  Immediately following the parade, a brief ceremony to honor local veterans will be held at the Veterans Memorial in Folsom City Lions Park.

This year’s theme is “Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the End of World War II.”   The parade will feature several grand marshals who are veterans of World War II.

The 1.5 mile parade will commence at 430 Blue Ravine Road and will enter E. Bidwell Street from Montrose Drive.  The parade will travel westbound on E. Bidwell Street, northbound on Coloma Street, and will proceed to Natoma Street. The parade will conclude at the Folsom Community Center at 52 Natoma Street.

The Folsom Police Department will coordinate a temporary closure of all lanes of traffic on E. Bidwell Street between Coloma Street and Blue Ravine Road from approximately 8 to 11 a.m.  Natoma Street from Coloma Street to Wales Drive will close from approximately 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.  Closures will be lifted immediately after the parade ends.  Detours around the parade will be marked.  Motorists are encouraged to take Riley and School streets as alternate routes.

The parade will be held rain or shine.  For more information contact Chuck Harrison at 351-3534 or charrison@folsom.ca.us

Anyone going to the Veterans Day Parade on 11 November ????

My wife and I will have our chairs placed on the sidewalk somewhere near

the British Pub. On that side of the road.

It should be another great Folsom Veteran's Day Parade.   Come on out and enjoy.

Starts at 9 AM.

There will be two local High School Bands and I have heard that there will

also be an Army band this year.

I'll try to be there. I make it just about every year.

By the way, I'm reminded to thank you and all of the other veterans for your service to our country. The world may have turned out a lot differently without you!

Another great parade!  I loved the F-15 flyover; I'm still wondering what base they were from.  And I still laugh when Folsom's Finest gets his motorcycle in the maneuvers with the Shriner's.  There was a great turnout for both the participants and watchers.

Always a good parade.  I do wish they could do a better job keeping the groups together.  There were some long gaps that made people think the parade was over.  (I was near E. Bidwell & glenn).
