OMG, that is dreadful for everyone involved. I have faith that the good people of this forum will keep the judgements and speculation to a minimum out of respect for the family and officers involved.
I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

akkk that's near me!! I did not hear anything! ohmy.gif

Andrea: I'm not familiar with Elkin Circle, but I live in NS, too -- this is disturbing to me. We've lived here close to 10 years now, and, as I was telling my hubby the other night, it's becoming "911 CENTRAL" around here. I go to bed and hear sirens non-stop coming down Blue Ravine headed towards Folsom Blvd. I don't really consider those tunes a "lullaby".

Does not matter where you live - there could be a crazy or Druggy Next door.

Interesting that the second article says the FAMILY - Said THE MAN - without saying if there was a relationship- child or Friend or roomer...

Yeah, not a lot of info to go on. All I can say is, that's one tore up situation.

Trying to keep the speculation to a minimum, but going off the meager report, family or friends or acquantenances call the cops for some help with an apparent loonie tunes person inside their home (don't know the cause of his looniness, but at the moment, definitely loony) and the scene escalates what sounds like fairly rapidly to the use of deadly force.

Definitely an unfortunate outcome.

While it does suck that it had to happen that way, I'm sure the police did what they had to do.

There was an incident that seemed similar to this in EDH last year -- also on a holiday, as I recall.

My guess is that some unstable relative was invited over for Easter under the best intentions that "everyone should have a place to go on Easter." Unfortunately sometimes the "black sheep" relative can turn out to be not just strange, but dangerously so.

I hope the family doesn't go after the police, as happens in so many of these situations. I can't imagine the officer was eager to shoot someone; I'm sure he felt he had to.

Very sad. I saw an interview with one of the family members. They said the guy had locked himself in his room for several days and had not eaten during that time.

They called the cops for help, but warned them that he was armed with a knife and they should bring tasers.

They did tase him, but he came at them.

How tragic for everyone involved.

Just for the record, if you hear sirens, thats usually just an ambulance. More often than not its medical and even those get cancelled when we knock on the door. Police usually keep their sirens off as they approach a scene for stealthy reasons. You can probably rest a little easier.

Not that it matters, but it is actually Elkins Circle. (The news got is wrong. Funny thing is KCRA always had it wrong, but I thought channel 10 had it right in their first report, but I noticed they have it wrong now too.) If you are enter NS on Turnpike from Blue Ravine, Elkins is the first right.

I feel horrible for the family. They were seeking help for their son and this happens. I feel bad for the police. Apparently two felt their own safety was in jeopardy for both to shoot at basically the same time.

I just saw a report on channel 13 and the family is saying the officers used too much force and they may seek retribution. They're the ones who called law enforcement for help and since the ending turned out bad they're to blame? Thank you to all law enforcement for putting your lives on the line while seeking safety for our community!!!
