We got enough challenges with light rail already, we don't need to be shuttle stop for the Europeans as well. Then again maybe we could build a shuttle stop S50?

If I had $42 million, I still wouldn't buy it.
I would rather be Backpacking

laugh.gif yeah that one sure would cause some parking issues, and landings would be even worse...

just imagine a shopping trip to the mall in that thing - but hey you could practically bring back the entire store with all that storage space in the shuttle

Well, how much should someone pay for a used vehicle that comes with no warranty and is being decommissioned as it's decided we are past the serviceable, usable, life?

Let's put it in comparison to something more familiar, How much would pay for a used Pinto that would cost 100X the purchase price to operate, it ran on a fuel you couldn't just go buy at a gas station, and the brakes were beyond repair?

A pinto doesn't make a very good museum piece either, but a shuttle might.

Well, you know it loses value as soon as you fly it off the lot. It's probably got a lot of miles on it.

Is $42 million the Shuttle Max price or Kelley Blue Book?

I got intrigued and tried to do some math.

The shuttle averages about 16 orbits of the earth, one every 90 minutes.

It flies at an altitude of about 185mi at a speed of around 17,285mph.

So, each flight is around 400,000 miles.

122 successful launches makes it about 48,800,000 miles between them.

Try typing that into Kelly Blue Book.

Maybe they will come out with a hybrid upgrade kit for it.
