What Are People Thinking?

I think modesty is fine until it turns into teaching a child to be ashamed of their bodies or the normal functions it has to take care of throughout the day as though it is something dirty. I mean, we can't all be Kim Jong-il.

OMg, why are you boycotting Lembi Pool?!!! Instead of making it just about swimming pool etiquette, which is how you should have approached this topic, you tried to put a spin on an innocent mom and child. The new America;paranoid, fear driven and guilty until proved innocent!
She's boycotting the pool for a myriad of other absurd reasons which I'm sure she'll try to explain.
It mostly has to do with that 21 yr old swim coach that that got caught in the child porn/sex sting and the feeling that the pool is somehow at fault for all that.

Sorry I think you just want to vilify me because of a different forum thread pertaining to a lack of employment screening procedures, rather than pay attention to the message that was i this very different thread.
You would be wrong on that account--- I do not mix my topics. What i had to say in this thread is written as a father of 2 children and an understanding of how some people are over the top in their modesty ( OK if YOU are) but do not try to suggest it applies to all others...
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

you are mis-informed.
the rates of human trafficking in Europe have dramatically risen in the last few years. California surpasses many European places. You did know that, though? That Sacramento is considered a hub for distribution of transporting humans through to other places for reasons if sex slavery?
Cities that actually thought they would be progressive and legalize prostitution have found that human trafficking became a major concern after easing laws on prostitution. Why? Because they can hide their victims in plain site.
Wow! Where did my post say anything about prostitution or sex slavery? My post was about the tendency in America to be prudes about the human body.

I got your point and fully agree. Europeans are not so uptight and paranoid like our news media has made us.

As far as the other stuff, they are comments from other people's little quips.
No, I am certainly not an expert on the sex slave trade. But, I do know someone who was sold as a toddler (2 years old) along with her mother, and was grown up enough at 10 years old to be fully accessed as a full grown adult. By the time whe was 12 years old she was hooked on heroin. By the time she was 18 she was "used up" and was allowed to buy her freedom. I met her through an agency that specialized in in things many of you are probably not even aware is present here in Sacramento. Myself and many other people were involved in her safety, anonymity, and restarting her life.
But no, I'm not an expert.
And your quips are over the top considering the subject.

You mentioned pedophiles, not me. I merely expounded on it, by stating that pedophilia (human trafficking greatest asset) is quite well and alive in places like Europe.

Somewhere in Folsom (or surrounding area), a mother and toddler are oblivious to how angry they made a passerby/gazer, prompting a 3 page diatribe on the effects that diaper changing in public has on human trafficking.

I got your point and fully agree. Europeans are not so uptight and paranoid like our news media has made us.
Most of the people I met and knew in europe had quite different ideas than what the American media portays European ideas to be. The europeans I met felt that skin ads are ok as long as they are not accesible to children (most of them felt this was a concern that was not being handled very well in the media world).
They said, sure they didn't have a problem with people showing their skin and their sexual appetites as long as it was not their daughter.
As for other things, Europeans had nude beaches and very strict rules. If a male went to a nude beach and became physically arroused he was escorted off the beach, by very angry people.
Swim houses have several areas ranging from family wading areas to lap pools, to salons, to nudist colonies. And family areas are very strictly monitored by security. I know first hand. They are always watching. So to initiate an idea here that there is no problem in pool areas in Europe is just as asinine as suggesting that pools in the US would not be a breeding ground for pedophiles, much like dumping chum in shark infested waters would not make it dangerous for people to swim.
But the whole thesis of my original post wasn't even about any of this. It was other posters that I responded when they made comments which I would respond to. My original post was sadness that a child was subjected to being stripped on a sidewalk in public.
But if the 1, 140 something people have stopped in to view this thread, learns something and becomes informed then so be it. I hope they are curious enough to become more informed and find great sources on parenting, protecting their family, and recognizing signs of abusive relationships; before they can be victims of violence or exploitation.
And if people are uncomfortable talking about a threat that most certainly does exist, they may want to take a more passive approach to educating themselves by visiting websites that can educate them.
