I wonder how many people who stay in the hotels in town are tourist vs business travellers and those just visiting family.

Interesting question.
The hotels out near 50 are busiest during the week, which would indicate business travelers, and they aren't so busy on the weekends.
The Lake Natoma Inn seems to have the opposite flow.
All visitors can become tourists, however, and business travelers are targeted by tourism bureaus so that they spend money while in town.
