The Folsom Police Department Traffic Unit has announced it will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 19th, 2016, at an undisclosed location within the city limits during evening hours.
There will also be a multi-agency DUI task force out on patrol Saturday evening, August 20.
Police cite the deterrent effect of announcing DUI checkpoints in the reduction of the number of people killed and injured in alcohol/drug related crashed.
Research shows a reduction of up to 20% of such crashes when well-publicized checkpoints and patrols are conducted routinely.
In other words, people don’t want to get busted, so they stay home or get a ride, thus making our streets safer.
