I frequently ride my bike on the trail that parallels Blue Ravine. Often, there will be large stones scattered on the trail (3-4 inches in diameter). This occurs frequently near the tunnels and also behind the Creekside Apartments.
I can only imagine that parents are letting their tots play with rocks around the trail (I've seen this, near the creek) or that teens (?) are intentionally placing rocks on the trail.
Do people realize that rocks on the trail are extremely dangerous to cyclists? They could easily cause a bad fall. The danger is compounded by the fact that the tunnels are so dark, cyclists are basically "blind" while riding through them and coming out the other side.
Grrrrr!!!
Then there are the off-leash dogs... the dogs that nip at your heels on the way by... and the people who insist on walking 4 abreast on the trail.

Those must be the grown ups, that were the 16 year olds who got cars "handed to them"

I thought the rocks were there to throw at the mountain lions.

I've moved several of the rocks off the trail when I walk, but I haven't seen who actually puts them there....very dangerous.

It always amazes me the degree to which others abuse public facilities. I jog the trails and find rocks and sticks tossed in the patways, as well as many dog turds, and the occasional beer can or candy wrapper.
I don't understand why one would go to enjoy the beauty of our trails and then trash them.

There is also lot's of debris on the bike lanes/surface streets. I've tried contacting City officials with this issue to no avail. Last Friday I suffered a debris puncture that totally destroyed my tire ($40).

There's a garden gnome that lives just down the street from where you speak. He was uncermoniuosly re-transplanted from the IHOP lawn after employees reported large amounts of waffles being stolen every day. Now his anger gets the best of him (who can blame him-the greed of super-chain restaurants is unbelievable) so he goes onto the bike paths and hurls stones at passing wildlife and cylclists tires (which reminds him of his beloved giant sized omelot pans). Truly you must beware-this gnome has the appearance of a grandfatherly porcelain face but in fact he is wanted in multiple jurisdictions of several law enforcement agencies for his purported plots to take out key influential persons in the community while scheming to take over the world and turn it into a giant waffle making plant.
Beware the grandfatherly gnome.

Probably the same kind of jerks who think it's funny to scare horses that peaople are riding on horse trails. Why causing someone serious bodily harm is funny, I haven't determined.

FYI, some of the influential people of our community DON'T live in our community.

I think people mindlessly do this...many times it can be their children that they are not watching...When I was a girl I was constantly throwing rocks on the ground or into the water when I was walking the trails with my Dad...and I can bet you I was one of those brats who you curse about 20 years ago...however my Dad would scold me and tell me the importance of not doing that...I now walk the trail frequently and occasionally take my neice in her jogger...she has thrown toys out of it and thank goodness I walk the trail back cause I saw the toy and picked it up...the problem is a lot of people use the trail for recreation purposes only and throwing rocks is fun...but the people who use it to run/ride bikes are focused on riding/running fast and don't see the danger until it is too late...at any rate people are incosiderate, lazy, may not realize or just plain old rude...however thank goodness I have never had a saftey issue...
