Wow, I'm really sorry you had such a negative experience. :( It doesn't even sound like the same restaurant I've been going to. One night it was slower than the other nights we had visited, but it was super busy and they were doing take-out orders, too, and we just enjoyed our time there. But your service issues are beyond being busy and need to be addressed.

wow, went for dinner last night, super food, service and a high class fine dining experience. its nice for folks who love Chinese food but are tired of the typical atmosphere to have the same great food in a place with class

hope the folsom folks support this treasure...and yea it costs a little more, but worth it if you are out for more than just a meal

Tried it last night and was very good. Got there just after 6PM and the place was empty. Literally, I mean empty. As you can image service was very good, the place was very clean, and the food was very tasty although a bit on the pricy side (comparable to Fats). We didn't order any beverages but was still $75 with tip. We did take a lot of food home though.

Only one other couple came in while we were there. I hope they can survive as that is a tough location. Lots of businesses have come and gone in that shopping center in recent years.

Another 5 stars for this place!
I went there for lunch with my parents today. It was pretty crowded though. The service was again wonderful. The waiter was very attentive.
The food was awesome!
I ordered from the lunch special. For $ 7.95, I had Yu sang eggplant. The dish comes with a bowl of fry rice, a bowl of soup of the day( hot&sour on friday), and a nice salad with house dressing! The eggplant was DELICIOUS,Very flavorful, and it wasn't as greasy as most Chinese places.
Again, 5 stars for the food and service.
I wish them the best and stay here for a very long time. Definitely will go back soon!

Went last night. We had three dishes ($47), and asked for it to be spicy. When the waiter asked how spicy, we said we wanted it to be hotter than average (we told him a jalapeņo was a 1, he said it was a 5, so thought there was an understanding on how spicy we wanted it). The food was tasty, but not spicy. They were kind enough to bring hot paste and hot chili oil out for us.

While I agree the interior decoration was nice, as was the service, the music was a bit loud. I ordered potstickers to go, and was disappointed. Nearly $10 for them ($9.64), and they weren't very flavorful and on the dry side.

I'd give them a 3/5, but will go back if someone else was paying.

Okay, I have a new favorite dish: Malaysia Style Dry Cooked String Beans and Tofu. How could a string bean taste so good? How could tofu taste so special? I have no idea how they do it, but they do. Try it; it's absolutely scrumptious! I also tried the Pot Stickers and the Prawns in Lobster Sauce for the first time today and they were delicious. The prawn dish is subtle and flavorful with plump prawns. The pot stickers weren't dry, as was Swmr's experience, and I love the garlic sauce they're served with.

I stopped in at La Paris Salon a few doors down to thank Diane for so highly recommending the string bean dish. I do believe she eats it every day.

That's so funny. I tried to post about my experience at this place a while ago, but it kept booting me off.
I actually considered the string bean tofu dish as my new second favorite.
My first is their Canton salt & pepper fish.
The service was great. Can't wait until it cools down enough to take advantage of the outdoor seating, not that the interior isn't beautiful. It's quite a transformation.

And I've been meaning to try the salt and pepper fish. :) If you go to lunch early it's often cool enough to sit outside. Today's weather was cool enough to do so.

I went for lunch today and was greeted like royalty!

Bill, the owner, shouted 'Steve!' and said, 'Thank you so much for mentioning us on myfolsom.com! We have gotten lots of business from that!'

I told him that I always want to see good businesses succeed and the everyone should know about their place.

My lunch partner and I had the above mentioned string beans, the yu chang eggplant, and brown rice. Came with hot and sour soup (my daughter's favorite) and a salad. Delicious stuff.

Glad to see them doing well.

I went with a group of friends today, a few who had been there before and a few who were newbies. Everyone was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the service - and some of us are quite picky. :)

Our meal included chicken in lettuce cups, crab and cream cheese won tons (a new one for me and the best I've ever had), kung pao shrimp, yu shang eggplant, green beans with tofu and chicken (I asked for the addition of the chicken), lobster sauce prawns, and twice cooked pork. We all got to try everything and we all came home with leftovers.

While always delicious, I have noticed that the spiciness of some of the dishes varies with whomever is cooking them. Today the green beans were much spicier than the other times I've had the dish, and they were too spicy for me. Bill asked how everything was and I mentioned the spicy issue; he disappeared into the kitchen and came back with a fresh batch. I would recommend asking about the spice level of various dishes you order and articulate your preference.

As Steve said, the owners and staff make an effort to get to know their customers and always greet me by name. It was great to see the restaurant so busy and I'm thrilled to see that they're doing well.

It's swmr's fault. He said the food wasn't spicy enough :P

We've been back several times now. There's still lots of things on the menu I want to try.

Same here. I think next time I'm going to try the salt and pepper fish; still haven't done that.

I went for a take out dinner last week. The service was fantastic - they really are sweet people and understand they are in the service business. The containers they use stink! Both the plastic containers broke and I had kung pao sauce all over the bag when I go thome. :cuss3:
But the food was fresh, not greasy at all and tasty. No over salting or over saucy which I think feels healthier. I will be back. :2thumbsup:

We've done take-out several times now and have never had a problem with the containers. But be sure to let them know; they'll appreciate the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the food and service.
