How it works in civilized countries.

We could learn from them.

Barack Obama says the rich owe the world a huge debt

https://qz.com/13300...ome-inequality/

The elite class whose rise has been fueled by their outsized share of global riches, he said in very direct terms, needs to take care of those left behind.

For all the growth driven by technology and globalization, Obama said, a backlash manifested itself in the 9/11 attacks, the instability caused by the “ill-advised” invasion of Iraq, Russia’s determination to reassert its authority, the reckless behavior of the financial elite that led to the Great Financial Crisis

Can you say "Future Party Leader?"   :lmaosmiley:    :BNANADANCE:               :joker:

The age of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

https://www.cnn.com/...york/index.html

The rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez happened slowly and then, on the night of June 26, all at once. In less than a month since, she has ridden a wave of support, put her foot in her mouth and been celebrated by fellow democratic socialists, scorned by Republicans and centrist Democrats, questioned -- in good faith and bad -- by pundits of all stripes and touted by admirers as a future party leader.

Now she's out on the campaign trail, boosting her allies and trying to put a leftist stamp on the
Democratic class of 2018.

When it finally comes down to democrats and republicans shooting at each other,  I'm outta here.

Bought property in New Zealand a couple months ago.  Apply for dual citizenship in Sept.

I'll leave it to all of you folks to blow the crap out of each other.

Is there by any chance a little cabin at the back of that property that you could be willing to rent out?

SacBee this morning: Looks like Ami Bera is a shoo-in to win our Congressional District this fall.

And this:

Democratic socialism on the rise in the Trump era

https://www.csmonito...n-the-Trump-era

Forty-two people are running for office with the support of the Democratic Socialists of America, a movement defined by policies including Medicare for all and the abolition of ICE. The surge of democratic socialism comes as Democrats debate if their party's move to the left will alienate voters.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I), Congress's only self-identified democratic socialist, campaigned Friday with the movement's newest star, New York City congressional candidate Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old who defeated one of the most powerful House Democrats last month.

Her victory fed a flame that was already beginning to burn brighter. The DSA's paid membership has hovered around 6,000 in the years before Trump's election, said Allie Cohn, a member of the group's national political team.

Last week, its paid membership hit 45,000 nationwide.
