Since we are new in the area, is there a good italian restaurant in Folsom area, beside Macaraoni Grill and Olive Garden.
Anything in Old Folsom?
Thanks for the help.

I have heard Visconti's is excellent. Granito's is opening soon and they are supposed to be good as well.

I've been to Visconti's on several occasions, so speaking from experience,

They are excellent
I would rather be Backpacking

Well, I don't know if Davburr likes them or not, but reading his reply, he didn't recommend them, he merely answered the question if there was an Italian Restaurant in Old Town.

And I've been to it, it's not bad, although I've read some poor reviews on service.
I did like it better before it changed names, and now, for the life of me, I can't remember what it used to be called.
I would rather be Backpacking

Speaking of Italian, who remembers "I Love Pasta" before it became "Streets of London"?

Lanza's was wonderful. Their homemade spumoni was the best!

I haven't had great service when I've been seated in the restaurant, but we love sitting in their bar for their happy hour. We've always had superb service in the bar and I nominate them for the best margarita on Sutter Street.

Welcome to the area.

I guess one question would be whether or not you truly consider MG/OG good Italian. That helps set a baseline of what you're looking for.

There are places in Folsom that serve Italian food. I'd eat there but wouldn't necessarily recommend them as "good" Italian. To me, this includes, MG/OG/Strings. An exception to the chain restaurant mediocrity may be Il Fornaio and Kuleto's -- I haven't tried locations up here but I do like the ones in the San Francisco/Bay Area.

There are a couple of places in Sac that I've tried once or twice and would try again (Michelangelo's, Biba, for example). As I make my own Cacciatore, Marinara, Cioppino, Lasagna, Osso Buco, Tiramisu now, I'm less inclined to venture out for Italian.

I guess in summary, there are other Italian restaurants in Folsom as the good folks here have mentioned that I think may do in a pinch. There are places in the greater Sac area that may actually be appropriate to recommend (and if you find any gems, let the rest of know). smile.gif It all depends on what you're expecting.

The good thing is that, if you enjoy searching for little culinary gems, this is an area that will keep it interesting. You'l be disappointed at times which will really make you treasure the gems that you do find. smile.gif

I make my own as well, but that doesn't stop me from choosing Italian when I dine out.

My friends think I make a killer spaghetti when backpacking. At first a couple were skeptical as to how it would taste with top ramen noodles, but then found it was pretty good that way.
