I make my own as well, but that doesn't stop me from choosing Italian when I dine out.

My friends think I make a killer spaghetti when backpacking. At first a couple were skeptical as to how it would taste with top ramen noodles, but then found it was pretty good that way.

Italian is one of my favorites and I'd love to choose it more when I dine out. I guess more often than not it's been disappointing. I got spoiled living near University Ave (Palo Alto). One thing you couldn't get off University Ave was a good hamburger though. smile.gif I guess that's one reason I enjoy the Best Burger thread.

Spaghetti w/ top ramen -- novel and creative. I guess that works for backpacking. Great idea; I wouldn't have thought of that.

I think we all need to calm down and wait for Naga Jolokia/Spicy to weigh-in on this one.

If you go to any restaurant, make sure you get Naga's/Spicy's review first.

Naga is rarely wrong about restaurant reviews.

Bon Appetit !!
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

Well, I don't know if Davburr likes them or not, but reading his reply, he didn't recommend them, he merely answered the question if there was an Italian Restaurant in Old Town.

And I've been to it, it's not bad, although I've read some poor reviews on service.
I did like it better before it changed names, and now, for the life of me, I can't remember what it used to be called.

thanks Bill, that's exactly what I did....

it's not a fav place of mine but it's not bad either. I've only been there a couple of times since I've lived here and only been to Visconti's once... neither really made me wanna run right back and go again... but the food was decent, I can't berate it because I didn't have a bad experience there...

and besides we make our own Italian food at home, so we rarely go out to dinner for it

Saves on fuel. Spaghetti needs to boil for 8-9 minutes. Ramen, boil the water, add the noodles, turn off stove and wait 3-5 minutes, then drain.

To make the homemade spaghetti sauce rehydratable, I dry it in my dehydrator until it's like leather. Then I dry it some more in the oven until it's hard. Break it up, powderize it in a coffee bean grinder. It is amazing how well it rehydrates.
I would rather be Backpacking

For the love of God - just admit YOU are Naga already..... tongue.gif

Ironically Naga is the odd person out on all restaurant reviews here - a dozen people say a place is great, Naga then comes on and says its bad. Naga says a place is great, a dozen people who've tried the place she's touting say she's full of BS wacko.gif

there's an obvious pattern here - and awood broke it - just do the opposite of what Naga recommends

Strings is still there, on Riley, just West of the Post Office in the same shopping center as the Red Robin. We have been there several times and have had good food and service. They also run discounts in the local mags. 2 for 1 or the cheapest one free??

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

I think Tuesdays is Kids eat free night.

And please remember, when getting good discounts, one should tip based on what the bill would have been without the discount

We are all lucky to have Naga's contributions.
