I watched the Billboard Awards last night with my 21 year old daughter.

I can't say that I was shocked, just tremendously disappointed if this is the best we could do.

It basically featured terrible performances of terrible music. Hard to pick the worst one.

Was it Miley Cyrus butchering Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?

The rapper set?

Katy Perry's garish 'birthday' song?

Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood's appropriately titled, 'Something Bad'?

Too many to count.

I liked the Michael Jackson song, even if the hologram performance seemed a little weird.

I don't know if Robin Thicke's 'Get her Back' was good enough to get her back, but it was nicely done'

Best moment of the night was Justin Timberlake's exception speech where he said to the other nominees, 'It's not a competition, but if it was....I WON!'

I must be getting old.

Okay, I've decided, it was a tie between Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry.

Steve, I recorded and buzzed through it this morning.  You are right. I think it SUCKED.

A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

I can't watch these music shows any more. I'm offended by the lyrics and strip pole dancing that is prevalent in too many "songs." I know every generation has issues with newer generations' music, but so much of the lyrics and "dancing" today has sunk to such a low that I can't imagine any room to get worse. The sad part is that children, pre-teens, and adolescents listen to and emulate this trash. They wouldn't be allowed entry to movies with these themes.

Was it kinda like this?

I wonder how much of the problem is that music artists just aren't invested in like they used to be.

How could you possibly go into something like this with any high expectations considering the "music artists" that we have today.

I'll use the excuse that it was a shared moment with my daughter, but I was curious as to who would perform.

It was just terrible. They also had a white female rapper with a southern street slang accent, who seemed to be imitating Missy Elliott and Nikki Minaj. I later found out the southern accent was fake. She's Australian.

She performed this one. Watch if you dare:

I used to look forward to shows like this but there is nothing to watch anymore. I played Star Wars with glow sticks with my kids instead.

its a brave new world.  if that is where its headed, it appears some teens are striving for the lowest common denominator.
